Step away from the cliff

I think what most are missing here is this is not about slurping or thinking Manny is the real deal. This is about we're in year 3, let's see this season and see if we win the games we are supposed to. If we go through the rest of the year without another loss or maybe just 1, there will be a lot of silent folks here only looking to negatively comment when an opportunity arises. If we lose 3 or more games, he'll rightly deserve the criticism headed his way. In year 3, Dabo was on the hot seat too with a 6-7 record, 10-4 the next year. Now the same people who criticized him then would love to have Dabo here.
Please stop bringing up the one or two coaching examples of another coach that turned a team around. There are 100x the amount of examples of coaches that didn't do that if you really want to go there. The one in a million that did is not the card to play.

because he lost to FIU

So let me just get this straight: the only way Manny was going to convince you that we are beyond the FIU game was to compete with Alabama? Those are, quite literally, two outcomes on the extreme ends of the spectrum. It's like losing a foot race to your next door neighbor and saying the only way you can prove to me that you're better than your neighbor now is by beating Usain Bolt.

Please stop bringing up the one or two coaching examples of another coach that turned a team around.

But you already have evidence of improvement. We went 8-2 last year after being 6-6. Now people are saying let's see what happens this year. How on Earth is that illogical?

I understand your point and it does ring true. If it were one game. We are currently on a 3 game losing streak. Teams were up on us 34-3, 21-0, 27-0 during those games. It is becoming a trend against decent to good teams for Miami to get their cheeks clapped. It needs to stop.
I don't disagree here. I'm just trying to look at this season on its own. Hopefully, some development, mostly returned the same team, some fresh blood as well.

Manny has through the UNC game to convince us 'last year was last year' and 'Bama is just Bama'. Miami needs dominate App State and handily beat MSU and Virgina. Not win close games still in doubt deep into the fourth quarter.

Miami then needs to beat UNC at their house in a revenge game from last years humilation. Arrive at Chapel Hill 4-1 and get blown out, unprepared, and unmotivated, and 'its a wrap'.

Disclaimer: Just trying to give a 'new season-benefit of the doubt after Bama' vibe. Last season was enough to show Manny for the coach he is, and isn't.

This is not to support Diaz, but just a reminder, **** games happen. We didn't expect to win this game, and many expected to get dominated. Obviously, that's not where we want to be, but it's what we all knew. With that said, Look at Clemson mashing Bama a few years back. Bama was expected to give a challenge in that championship game and got smoked. Let's get a few games in and see what happens this season. We all came into the season expecting no more than 2 losses, hopefully 1. We may still achieve that.

Finally, someone with some reasoning instead of the clowns on this board who continuously believe in Fantasyland.

getting "blown out" or not is not even close to the main issue of Miami's problems for the last almost 20 years.

if you lost by 1 point or you lose by 50, a loss is still a loss.

losses hurt recruiting and they sure as **** do not win championships. win by 1 point or lose by 1 point... the only thing that
counts are Ws and Ls . Poor coaching and play do not get you Ws and championships. that's not rocket surgery !

anyone who thinks how many points you lose by is really important is like someone who is upset that the menu for supper on
the night the Titanic sank was not any good.

who gives a rat's *** that the mashed potatoes were cold and lumpy and the meat was overdone and tasted like crap that night .....
the ******* SHIP SANK !!!

This post is just too rational for this board.

If you’re on a cliff at this point, I don’t know what else to say. Saturday’s in the fall are beautiful. Go hunting. Go fishing. Take a trip. If there’s a good game on, watch it. An opportunity to go to one, GO! Don’t let the Canes dictate your weekend or it’s gonna be a disappointing life.

This is literally what I'm trying to say. None of us expected us to be at that level yet. All I'm saying is let's see how the season plays out when Bama is not on the other side. We all knew bama was basically a throw-away game and a measuring stick for where we are. Now we know, we're still not there, but even good teams get stomped sometimes.
My man it's not that we lost to bama its how we look Every **** time we play a team capable of walking upright always the same **** game come out flat uninspired with the deer in the headlight look. Jesus Christ !!!

We all know how this ends.

I'm not on a ledge. The game went like I expected it to. We get smoked by UNC two short games ago and people expect us to compete against the juggernaut that is Bama?

On the real, you're a fugging idiot if you didn't see this result coming.
