We were really looking forward to this season as a icing on the cake season for my son, but due to on going shoulder joint seperations, Central's coaches and I have decided that Wayne should have surgery to repair the shoulder and work toward getting back on the field late in the season. My son isn't taking this well but it's best for him to get it done now rather than trying to make it through the season and risking further damage to it. Central will make the playoffs and I expect my son to be making plays and help the team contend for their 4th straight Florida 6A State Championship title!!!

Best decision for him. Rehab hard and he'll feel better than ever. Looking forward to cheering your son and his fellow future Canes on.

Go Canes!

****, tough to swallow I'm sure but sounds like a wise decision long term.

It was, and a surprise to both my son and I when the doctor said he needed to have shoulder surgery. It would briefly come out of place and be sore afterwards for a day or two but we never thought it would need surgery but Sean Spence had the same surgery in High School and we see how that turned out for him!!! Thanks for the support guys!!!

Best wishes to your son for a healthy, full, and speedy recovery. Can't wait to see him back to playing!

Just had mine done. Rehab is a ***** but it comes back pretty rapidly, and definitely stronger than before.

Doing what needs to be done is rarely easy, but its always rewarding. Praying for a speedy and safe recovery.

waynejr31, tell him to keep his head up and stay positive knowing his brighter days are still ahead of him. Encouragement is strong medicine.

God bless, we all wish him a quick and healthy recovery!!!

Thanks for the update! Big blow to centrals defense. Do you expect them to take a step back? Losing your son at LB leaves them vulnerable. Can DThompson hold down the fort until he gets back? Any insight is appreciated.

I don't think they will miss a beat. They still have Eric Mitchell, Keir Thomas, Donovan Thompson, Jameel Cook, Jamal Hudson, and some good transfer LB's that should step up to the challenge.

Hoping for a speedy recovery! Anyone that's had to deal with an injury knows how frustrating it is! Keep the long term goals in mind.

Make sure he takes time to recover from surgery. Easy to rush things and re-injure. Best of luck.
