Tom Herman is a truly great candidate who represents a very appealing blend of proven coaching/player development (QB coach/co-OC at OSU from '12-'14) and impressive recruiting. Butch has appeal to many for obvious reasons. Someone like Cristobal, on the other hand, just continues the cycle of going with the lazy, cheap, uninspiring hire. The thought of Cristobal being Golden's successor should scare the s*** out of everyone who wants us to be great again.

If you grew up in these neighborhoods you will knw that these kids care about if they can relate to a coach and relationships.... What makes Tom Herman a good hire?? cause of what he did as an assistant at OSU..lets be honest he wasnt the reason for their success, that was all Urban Meyer.... Herman has only coached 2 **** games!!!! lol...he has no ties to South Florida and kids will be hesitant to play for him... people perfect for this job are charlie strong, cristobal, schiano, chud, oregeron and butch... why?? cause they knw South Florida and the high school coaches....

You need somebody with a bigger recruiting footprint than just SoFlo...somebody that can recruit the Atlantic side of Florida, as well as the Gulf Coast, all the way to about Texas. Only name I see up there that has that type of pull, is Butch, and maybe Orgeron. But with Orgeron's personal past, He's lucky to even be a position coach.
 
No outsiders unless it's a top gun hire. (Jon gruden or some crazy **** like that) I want a coach with south Florida ties. Randy had the ties but sucked as a coach. Remember, teddy bridgewater would have been wearing O&G if randy hadn't gotten fired.

Tom Herman?? Lol. No thanks. Give me a guy who can recruit his a$$ off, can assemble a good staff and is a name south Florida kids will respect.

I want a "Miami guy" this time around. I wouldnt mind Schiano. I would rather Christobal then most of the names I've heard. At least we know he would lockdown south Florida. **** butch wasn't the greatest game day coach. But he knew if he locked the state of Miami down that was 80% of the battle.

That's what I think. His biggest personal problem occurred while he was an assistant at Miami. That's why he was dismissed. Don't think the administration would want to go that route again, even if he has supposedly overcome those issues.
 
Anybody saying they'd rather have Cristobal over anyone else straight up don't know ****.
I'd MUCH rather have Kiffen, and I really don't like him at all. Kiffen is a good OC, not HC, yet. But he is still young, and being under Saban for 3 years, could change him. He still is younger than Al Golden.
Of Course, IMO the best option is Rob Chudzinski. I do hope that no matter who the new HC is, he keeps Beard, Kehoe and Hurlie...maybe Ice as well. Could always bring in Butch to be recruiting coordinator. But, I'm probably dreaming a little too much.

In s.fla regardless how sh*tty of a coach we will still be better than avg on offense...

good lord the last 4 years of this defensive play have ruined me.

Nationally, Miami will recruit itself when it's good. You don't need somebody with connects in other areas. Solid SF ties are necessary though.

I'd roll with Charlie Strong any day.

He'd probably kill here.

A big part of recruiting is connections, especially in the lean years. No way we get kids like Jenkins,Heurtelou,Washington,etc., if it wasn't for Al's NE/NJ connections. Wouldn't mind snatchin' several kids outta the NO every few years...why not, Les Myles does it to us.
