For now the talent level is where it needs to be to reach the ACC championship game and get our doors blown off by Clemson.

ACC = AFC East

Clemson = New England Patriots

Yep agreed, I think the most eye-opening part of doing this analysis is that while we continued to assume that Golden's canes were like the Shannon canes ( talented, but under performing) the numbers definitely say they were quite JAGish teams in terms of talent and depth. It's only under Richt that we've gotten back to being Top 25 talent and at the level that we should expect Coastal championships based on talent alone.

Clemson just blew the doors off Alabama.

There's a huge gap between them and everyone else, including the mighty SEC, right now. Unless Lawrence gets hurt, they wont lose a game the next 2 years

No one three peats period... I don’t care if Tom Brady is their QB. They will lose a game this year... mark it down. They lost their entire DL plus some top LB and DBs. Defense takes a hit next year, the right offense will run them out the building next year if Girlscout has a bad game.

That isnt how the game went, or the game works, imo. Lawrence made some great throws, his receivers made some amazing catches, the OL gave him time, Alabama didn’t get an advantage on offense, and so it went. A little less magic on offense, a little less magic on defense, the game changes a lot. Alabama was constructed to grind people down, and does when not playing from behind.

Nice read, thanks for sharing. The stats showed what we already knew, or at least confirmed it. We were a very good to great team under Coker’s reign, dipped when Randy took over, then really bottomed out under Golden. Richt did well in his 3yrs here to bring the talent level and play back in (sans the offense) to a Top 25 range. Now it’s up to Manolo to take us to the next step.

Miami can beat Clemson, I’ve seen bigger upsets before... a 3/4 turnover game changes things. Plus the Miami team we will see vs Florida will be completely different than the Miami team you’ll see in the ACC Championship game.

When have we not had the most talent in our division since going to the ACC? Doesn't mean **** if we don't have the right coaches to make the most of it.

Here's to hoping that we FINALLY have the right coaching staff. The jury is out until at least October on that one.

They aren't 30 points better than Bama.. just like we weren't 30 pts better than Notre Dame. Fickle game. Bama & Clemson equally sit at the top for sure though.
