Bye week before North Carolina. Miami is off September 1st and doesn't host the Tar Heels until the 8th.
I have approximately zero experience with tropical storms / hurricanes. I just know they seem to hang around forever and come in bunches.

The windy parts usually move quickly over one area. However, the generally bad rains can last days.

Definitely keeping an eye on this one. Live on the water in St. Pete, on the bay side. Some of those tracks have the storm going right up or near the mouth of the bay. That would push water into the bay and put downtown Tampa and St. Pete under water.

The sheer volume of rain is remarkable. Combined with the wind, it makes seeing out the windshield impossible while driving. Truly zero visibility.

Got fam on the water on the other side, hopefully it gets pushed into landfall further south like last time. Tampa Bay would be terrible.

Yeah, when Irma came through it ran up just east of the bay, pushing water out instead of in. Have a photo of my floating dock sitting on the bottom of the empty canal! Saw other pictues of seagrass flats in the bay that were completely exposed and could be walked across.
