Was looking at the ‘23 season and realized that we finished 21st last year with 35 total sacks. When I went back and looked at how we got there I was floored that Branson Deen was third with 2.5 sacks. All the talk about the DEs and their ability to generate pressure this year and when you see last year you had to get to Harvey/Wayne with 1.5 sacks COMBINED.

Kiko is going to absolutely feast this season given what’s going to be coming off the edge. This unit should fight, in theory when looking at what we did last year (same scheme same coaches better roster), for a top 5 finish in sacks.

Our defensive scheme was able to generate great pressure despite only have one legit pass rusher who played the whole season. We will probably have less reliance on the blitz with Alston, Meisdor and Barron joining Bain

Bain and blitzing that’s all we had last year

Pass rush up front was horrific

Gonna be like a new team this year
It's been a long time at U of Miami where our O and D Lines were the strength of the team. But this year that appears to be the case. This team on paper has the potential to be a playoff team but we'll see how that plays out. I am cautiously optimistic.

Guidry can send DL in waves with hardly any drop off. The challenge will be getting them in and out (pause) quickly.
Shows how valuable Kiko and Bain were last year. And I mean our third most valuable pass rusher was probably Couch as sad as that is

Just giving Bain a break this year will be a big boost let alone having other legit pass rushers

This season is going to look vastly improved along the line. We were decimated last season at DE with Mesidor out the whole season and Kelly out the second half. Chantz and Harvey never delivered on their promise, Moss weighed 200 pounds, and Wayne just wasn't ready as a first year. Even Bain didn't really get going until several games in. Guidry was trying to build a machine with chicken wire and chewing gum.

Meaningless stat.

Pressures are more consistent and more important.

I still argue we're going to send blitzes from all directions. Wes and Kiko are good at blitzing and they're going to spend time trying to contain everyone else.

Especially given how refs call holding against us.
