1st off bench - M. Allen
2nd off Bench - D. Allen
3rd off Bench - Malovec (Pete said coaches are raving about this kid)
4th off Bench - Dovrat/Altuntas
5th off Bench - Kee

Laboy would be 6th of the bench?

Tru Washington is a junior and should be eligible for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons. Ernest Udeh, Malik Reneau, and Tre Donaldson are about to use their last year of eligibility.

I am a huge canes bball fan going back to the rebooted times playing in the Knight Center with Presto Burns and others.

I have never felt so disconnected from the program after 2 years of turnover on the roster. I couldn’t pick any of these guys out of a lineup.

It does not seem like it would be the case but NIL and portal has been far worse for me in basketball than football. Hopefully they will be better than last year so I at least feel motivated to get to know them.
 
Was there any compelling reason to sign either Kee or Laboy other than filling out scrimmage rosters? How much developmental upside is there really there with either?

I know Laboy has a Houston connection to the Lucas family. And, Kee did make 2nd team All-Broward.

Would be curious about this as well. Same question I have with Maddox, who was a very late addition.

With the Portal, is there even such a category as Red Shirt still available? If so, of the three -- Maddox, Laboy and Kee -- who Red Shirts?

We've got 10 players ahead of any of them and maybe we go 8 deep?

Top 150 seems high for a kid that is clearly in need of more weight on his frame and shot development.

As you likely know, he originally signed with Stephen F. Austin of the Southland Conference. A top 150 guy was a nice High School recruiting catch for the Lumberjacks but not exactly the resume for an ACC-level recruit. But ... who knows at this point.

I think most people recognize that the pre-NIL rules were unfair to the players, while the current rules (or lack thereof) are severely damaging to the sport as a whole.

A middle ground compromise between 'North Korean dictatorship' and 'pure anarchy' that's mutually beneficial could almost certainly be found with a little leadership at the top. But this is the NCAA we're talking about; nothing gets done here until the courts or the feds get involved.
