To think Shapiro spent a couple grand on our kids, most of which didn't even go directly to them, and it deep sixed our program for 5 years.

Meanwhile, the highest paid public officials are all head coaches of football teams at public universities. And kids are not allowed to earn money off their unique skill sets that drive tens of billions of dollars worth of revenues and and billions in profits. It's incredibly un-American in that it defies everything we believe in socio-economically -- free market for labor, capitalism, competition, reduced role in government, you name it.

Was waiting for someone to bring this up. Maybe if college coaches looked more like poor minorities on welfare, the trust-fund babies on this board would be more offended by this blatant waste of public money.

I poured a close friend’s ashes on the U helmet middle field 50 yard line before a game because he wanted to be apart of Canes battles and hopefully it would rain so his ashes could mix in Cane mud .

To get this back would be a monumental task only PASSION could bring

Honestly the best move is to be a mediocre, white head coach / awesome offensive coordinator at these blue chip programs. Herman gonna get $10+ million after the offset, probably go be the OC for Bama or SC or UF or something for a couple of years, and then roll right in to another Power 5 gig. Great line of work.

If he goes to corch @ bama he can get that Saban stimulus package and get another HC gig in 2 years..

What's the difference between what we've been doing and what they have? We both give coaches 4-5 years if they don't work out they're fired. It's not like they fired herman after 1-2 seasons. Only difference is they've paid out more in buyouts and can spend to get the coach they want. It still hasn't gotten them anything but $100 million less in cash. Who knows if sarkisian will pan out. Great oc but how's any of sabans guys worked out?

Texas hires guys who have a chance at succeeding. And they spend money on staff and analysts.

Miami hires coaches like

Larry Coker - no experience
Randy Shannon - no experience
Al Golden - mediocre coach at Temple
Manny Diaz - no experience

Then they give those coaches a shoestring assistant budget, and hire no analysts. And they give those coaches complete free reign to hire whatever family member, buddy, whatever they want.... with no accountability or oversight.

At least the guys Texas hired have been successful head coaches at other programs, or coordinators at national championship schools. Eventually, it's going to work out for them.

The Miami model is NEVER going to work. We need a complete rethink on how we manage the football program at Miami.

I knew it had an 8 somewhere 👍

Either create super D1P5 8-ish team league or install total program "spending caps".

It will continue as long as boosters keep making their millions and tv networks are willing to pay millions for tv rights. I don’t get why people think it’s not sustainable...also much of this won’t be paid out when these coaches get new jobs
