Why do you think Hartley might be TE?

According to US press release.from today, that's what he is. Little Richtey is offensive assistant. Won't be assigned any position IMO.

I'm not trying to be dense, but literally everything I've read says ST.

"In their new roles with the Hurricanes, Brown will serve as the co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach, Kuligowski will serve as the team’s defensive line coach, Hartley will accept special teams coordinator responsibilities, while Richt will move into the role of offensive assistant."

Even his Twitter bio says it.

I was trying to agree with you. He is the ST coach. My copy and paste skills need work.

Hartley will be special teams coordinator and also coach tight ends or defensive backs, per the source. It’s a reunion with Richt for Hartley, who got his start in coaching as a student assistant for Richt at Georgia in 2006.

-Hopefully this just means assisting the TE or DB coach

the problem being when announced today it was just st coordinator, not db coach no te coach connected. as of now.

That "source" was a Georgia newspaper writer that said Hartley will not be returning to UGA, because he will be following Mark Richt to Miami, and will "LIKELY" serve as special teams coordinator and a position coach. The newspaper doesn't even specify DB or TE coach but the SI article does based on his past coaching experience.
However, it doesn't matter, because that source, or what ever source the UGA newspaper crew spoke to, was wrong. Miami announced the exact current positions of the coaches.
If Hartley DOES later get the title of a position coach, it is because we struck out on a few people we wanted in those spots.

As mentioned above, we have room for 5 more assistants. We have 5 position coaching spots left to fill out (DB/LB/OL/TE/WR).

Based off of yesterday you would have to think Hartley main position he is coaching will be special teams. Maybe he will assist with another position but I doubt he does that

He is coaching special teams only. Scott is being retained to coach the TE. We will be hiring a OL and DB coach.

We actually have SIX positions left to fill. Jon Richt as an OA does NOT count as a coaching spot. He is merely an assistant.

Scott will be TE coach since Lilly decided to stay and Hartley just as ST coordinator he was the national recruiting coordinator at Marshall for 4 yrs so I imagine his recruiting role will be bigger

Hartley's Twitter bio says he's "Assistant Football Coach / Special Teams Coordinator. I'm guessing if he was DB or TE coach as well he would probably have that up there as well.

I would like to think Richt is not wasting a spot on his son. Especially as an offensive asst. However, if we get a dc/lb coach we are fine. I think Scott stays as TE coach, and we bring in an OL, WR and DB coaches to go with the DC/LB coach and we hit the magic number. However, these SEC teams like to bring in a ton of assistants. Doesn't Alabama have like 30 something guys involved in the program? Just technically administrative roles....
