Do you think the staff can have a decent national reach?
Main recruiting ground is SF. With that said...
Richt is from Boca, Rumph is respected in broward and has his name for Miami schools, Diaz has a history of recruiting well locally for what ever school he is at..he recruited TX/MS good when he was in those states so we can say he is a nice fit to recruit Hialeah/Coral Gables/South-Dade area.
Thomas Brown will obviously recruit Georgia but for his personality and background will likely be a good mesh in Miami-Dade also.
I'm looking at Dugans to replace Larry Scott area of North Florida, along with Richt since he had some fans in North Florida.
Kool spent 7 years in Louisiana(Toledo) and years in Missouri but has been recruitting his home state of Texas while at Missouri more than anything.
Banda, like Kool, is from San Antonio, so he will probably help recruit there.
Jon Richt went to high school in Georgia...that's about our only lead to where he will recruit. Could have sent some of his early childhood early in Tally though so another one that could look at North Florida?
Todd Hartley has recruited both Georgia and Florida successfully
Last on the list is Searels... Don't know all of his previous coaching gigs but I know he was at Georgia/VT, seems to have a lot of recruits in Texas.

So in terms of recruiting ties we have:
N.Florida - 1 (3 if you count both Richt's)
S.Florida - 2 (3 if you count CMR)
Random parts of Florida - 1
Texas 2 (4 if you count Diaz/Searels)
Louisiana - Maybe Coach Kook
Virginia - Maybe Searels
Missouri - Coach Kool

Pro:
7 people on staff should have no problems recruiting Florida. Plus Banda seems like he may fit in nicely
3 people on staff have heavily recruited Texas, plus possibly Banda
4 people have heavily recruited Georgia, plus possibly Jon Richt

Con:
Don't know who on staff could be a threat for standouts in Louisiana, Cali, New Jersey, Carolinas(who is known mostly for d-Line but that may not be a meaningful miss with Kool)

Anybody think we could have done better with national or local recruiting ties?

Keeping the top talent in south florida should be priority number 1 with the staff. JMO if CMR wants to succeed here he needs to win and not get embarrassed like Randy and Golden did in there first year.

our staff's strength is where it needs to be: Southeast. As a bonus, five of our staff members have done extensive work in Texas.

Our reach is National technically, but not in the last several years. I think as we win, given our locale, local recruiting base, aesthetic improvements and more national TV appearances, we'll see more OOS top recruits come on board. Re your analysis it does make a difference that a coach(s) have existing relationship in any recruiting area.

Nothing extends a program's national reach in recruiting like winning big.

The last time we were high-profile out of state kids - Greg Olsen, Kyle Wright, Aikeem Jolla, Lance Leggett, Eric Winston - we had national appeal from our run. Win a lot of games, play for national championships, get to big bowl games, etc, and kids outside your region will take notice.

i disagree, we need to get back to making elite linemen a priority that means getting in to north florida to get guys like like the guy in your avatar, georgia, louisiana area. absolutely you want to keep game breaker talent like dalvin cook home, but we need linemen in the worst way

Winning does that. Also, getting one kid is area who shines, like Kaaya, helps a lot. The coaches have to farm things like that to maximize the advantage. All that said, Coach Kool holds Mark's future in his hands. IF he get the right DTs and deploys them old school Miami style, the rest of the defense gets much better. Everything works better when your grizzle bears are terrorizing the other teams QB up the middle of field. Without our traditional defense, nothing Mark does on offense will matter after a couple years. First couple years he gets measured against Al - even I could look okay if that is the bar. Eventually, Mark will be measured against our memories --- that is a b--ch to match.

CMR got himself top QB's out of Texas (Stafford) Florida (Murray) and Eason (Washington)

The guy is a **** professional, something we havent had in 16 years. Things will be just fine!

Maybe there is reason. Too close to HS coaches and players. You know how it is down here. Offer one kid and not the other. Ppl will be against you

naw he's just not a dade guy....

he is from palm beach...and has always coached in broward. He naturally should know the schools to hit in those areas..

let Baez and cmpany hit the dade schools and richt...
felt like we been poor in broward and palm any way...Beard was abpout to do something in lauderdale though

A bunch of me and my class mates know Nd respect Rumph, that's why I said he has face in Dade...I didn't even play for my high school team and I had some knowledge of him. But I graduated 2 1/2 years ago, don't know about the kids in school now
