I have a question, I was looking at Baylor's and TCU's stadium both of their capacities is around 45-50K and the cost 250-300 Million. My first question is do you think Miami has the funds to build that kind of stadium? If they do, do you think they ever will? Next question if they did, do you think it needs to be bigger? Just asking...

Stanford just built there's around 50k and got it up fast and it rocks. 50k is plenty for Miami.

50k I have always said is perfect. I think they could raise that money real quick too. A call to former athletes and they make huge strides. They could also include it in the plan for the next fundraising campaign.

The bigger issues are where will it go? And will it be approved by legislatures?

Amon Carter Stadium (TCU) was built in 1930, and renovated in 2011. So, the stadium was already there. Just saying, it makes a difference. Stanford built their stadium on the site of their old stadium. Again, they already owned the site.

I gotta say though that these smaller newer stadiums (Baylor, Houston, TCU?, Stanford) are just about perfect for UM. But, I've always believed UM is happy to rent. I don't think they are interested in building a football stadium no matter where it is located. That's just an opinion.

I'm no expert, but i'd have to guess that a $300MM stadium in Waco, TX would cost at least twice that in Miami (maybe more). And that assumes we could find a place to put it.

It's too bad, b/c that stadium would be PERFECT!

They had a great size and place option with Beckham and would've only paid partial cost. Of course, they f'd that up.

Without re-configuring and rebuilding part of the campus there is not enough space for it. They would have to spend tons of money to move buildings around, build new parking decks, etc. A 25-30 year note on a 50k stadium would not be the hurdle. But anything can be done if you have the will. And they could use the stadium for more than just football. And some of the campus buildings are in need of replacement anyway. But like others have said they won't even pay market value for a coach or pay a buy out.

Please enlighten me...who is "they"--the UM admin? If so, how did "they" f it up?

Yeah - I am not a fan of the athletic department in general, but this one seems like it is not their fault as the issue (supposedly) was that Beckham and crew wanted a stadium that would max out at 25,0000 seats and Miami wanted at least 40,000. If Miami had agreed to 25K, everyone would (justifiably) be crucifying them.

That's not what happened at all.

Beckham was willing to build a 50k stadium, but Ross wouldn't let us out of our lease at sun life. The cheap *** admin decided it's better to keep playing at that garbage no life stadium so they told Beckham and the Miami fan base to suck it

Our BOT won't even put in the effort to find a competent football coach. Why would they build a stadium? Don't get me wrong, our current situation is horrendous and I'm all for a 50k stadium closer to campus, but building a stadium would be the ultimate statement that football is a priority. Not going to happen with the current cast of clowns in charge.

RIDICULOUS that we don't have our own stadium. We are the ONLY division 1 school that doesn't....other than Pitt....and frankly it tells you all you need to know about this clown show athletic department and the blood sucking maggots that make up our BOT

Didn't UCF and FIU Stadiums cost around $50MM?? $300MM sounds way too high.
UCF and FIU have erector set stadiums. Baylor built a real one.

Wow, what a load of ****.

Not once did Beckham or MLS ever agree to 50k. Not once.
