MEGA Mega Merged Stadium Thread.

Ruiz hasn't put "millions" into this. The renderings he released were extremely preliminary... probably cost like $20,000, if that. And the "promotion" has just been his Twitter account, which is free. He hasn't hired any lobbyists (none that are registered with the County, anyway). His completely unqualified son is the "project manager," for god's sake. He's put basically no real resources into this.

When it comes to this stadium project, Ruiz is either full of **** or completely delusional. Maybe both.
he could be both. and the likelihood of the stadium being built at the park is about 5% IMO.

It’s going to have to be a joint venture with Mas or we’re at HRS for eternity.

Mas are not likely going in on this. They have to focus on building the inter miami stadium, which by itself is a massive endeavor. they aren't going to put their political chips in for tropical or ruiz given the massive political hurdles to overcome. massive!

3 miles and there's sure to be shuttles going to/from campus on game days

Why keep doing this same thought exercise. There are huge logistical, political, and financial hurdles to overcome. Couple that with donors who might not want to see that happen for any one of a dozen reasons including drive time, traffic, parking, and amenities, and you're facing an uphill battle.

But everyone keeps trying to overcome these hurdles. Shuttles from Dadeland or the campus, bribe the politicians, Ruiz will donate the billion dollars, add hundreds of luxury boxes. Never say never, but the hapless Dolphins will be hoisting their Super Bowl trophy before we see a stadium.

That’s what I’m saying…. We share that stadium with inter

Ruiz will never stop trying to get this done. He'll just keep coming if/when the TP plan falls through. He and his kids will helicopter around South Florida and find something.

I've said it before, that's why I like the Magic City Casino AREA (north plot and/or south plot). You could share parking. I think Inter is going to have some underground parking, that could be "the Yellow Lot", and you run shuttles.

With greyhound racing outlawed, only a small piece of the south plot is still in use as a building. Find another site, build a garage, and now you can grab both pieces of land.

Some parking garages, some surface parking, and some "neighborhood" parking. Win win win.

Shuttles. Lots and lots of shuttles (I kid, but only slightly).

****, I think I walked 5 miles back to my car at the Clemson game...
I remember walking what seemed like 100 miles after we played UVA one year. There's walking involved at stadiums everywhere, and at the rate they are eliminating parking adjacent to HRS, pretty soon people will be shuttling there from the new parking garage next to the football ops center on campus.

Plenty of land around Clewiston or Homestead. But that's not on campus.

they should do so, but there aren't any buildable sites for a 60,000 stadium in the urban core. they have to go to either NW Miami Dade County (Northwest of Miami Lakes) or homestead, both equally as far as HRS (which doesn't resolve the "close to the University so that more students can go to the game", your argument), and if it is Homestead then tack on another 25 miles for those coming from Broward, Palm Beach.

@rsa coral gables at one point I may have stated that more students would attend games with a stadium closer to campus, but my argument has been and will continue to be that Miami needs and deserves its own stadium. Period. Good DAY sir.
EVERYONE agrees that Miami needs and deserves it own stadium. i have yet, however, to see anyone suggest a reasonable path forward other than saying Tropical because we need and deserve one. no one has iterated a reasonable resolution of the many obstacles of that location.
