Stacy Searles Ol coach

UGA gave up 12 sacks in 2009 with him as coach. He coached up Clint Boling and Ben Jones while at UGA and their offenses were pretty good

Much like the Diaz hire. Conceptually, what we want to do, is my kind of football. Power run, play off the play action pass on offense...aggressive, blitz happy defense. Searles and Diaz are guys that fit within that mold. Unfortunately, their resumes are a mixed bag. Some good, some bad.

With that said, these coaches are guys that are employed by well respected coaches consistently at the middle or above of the P5. Miami is at least willing to compete and play ball with the rising level of competition and salaries of big boy college football. I am sure not all of these coaches we are bringing in under Richt's first year will be home runs and they'll need to be replaced, but at least we're asserting ourselves among the big boys in the off-season.

What more can I ask after we had a staff that consisted of Temple, FIU, USF, and high school coaches. That was 8 coaches from our last staff. Pathetic. Throw in Kehoe, and he was unemployed. I'm happy with what we're getting now for sure.

Fwiw, he's a power blocking type of coach rather than a zone blocking guy. Not sure how that meshes with our team

In short, a **** TON better.

I generally step away from OL technical stuff and hope for guys like courcy75 and gogeta4 and a handful of others to pop in and tell us about the life of a kickstepper, etc., but I just want to know one thing about this guy:

How is he in training converted Guards to Tackle? Because we got those for him.

LOL, in spades...

In the absence of real knowledge, it's good to see people will continue to crown and bemoan every hire as if they've known the guy personally and played under him.

Some of y'all b*tch about anything, just stfu and let richt cook man.... Always questioning something, is he good? Why has he bounced around so much? Man quit being so apprehensive..... Obviously he knows what he is doing if he played in the league a number of years, coached at lsu, Uga, Texas and vt....

Why has he bounced around so much if he's so great? Wouldn't all these great programs do what it takes to hang onto such a great coach?

Looks eerily similar to a Jethro type who bounces around and has an impressive looking résumé that doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

Googled the guy. Resigned from uga to take Texas job. Uga fans were more than happy to see him go. Subsequently Texas fans weren't that happy with him.

This

Man, Fucc Wat the fans, say. Fans, for the most part, are all crazy! Anytime something goes wrong, we all jump on that coaches unit. How many fans actually know enough about football to actually give an excellent analysis of an OL coach's work?! They don't know about schemes or gap protection breakdowns. All they see is the QB getting sacked. They can't tell u that it was RB missing a blitz pickup or going to protect the wrong edge. They don't know that on a 3 step drop, the ball is supposed to come out quick. If it don't, it's a sack! "Block em, damnit"!!!, is what I hear, lol. They don't know who to blame, so it's easy to blame the OL coach. So EVERY OL COACH hiring/firing, with 95% of ANY fan base will be "meh". Most fans don't understand what goes on in the trenches. Most fans have no freakin idea what the **** their seeing, when they're watching a football game. And they can't watch enough NFL Countdown to get it explained to them. Don't listen to fans. I prefer to look at a mans resume and the head coaches he's worked with. Saban, Beamer, Richt? check. NCAA championship as an OL coach? check. Regarded by other coaches as one of the better OL coaches in the business? Check

I have no real idea how to evaluate an OL coach.

He's coached at some nice programs. The jump from LSU to UGA makes sense I guess because he's from Georgia. Not sure why he then left for Texas, though. Then I guess he was a causality of the Mack Brown firing.

For now, he's not Art Kehoe and he wears cowboy boots to press conferences. He's off to a good start.

I think that people can look at the recent hires in a variety of different ways. They can spin different numbers to their benefit. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I'm going to get blasted for this but something kind of ironic would be Art Kehoe getting hired somewhere else and the fans on that message board being incredibly excited about it. They would say things to justify the hire. Things like:

-He was in a bad situation with Golden so take his performance with a grain of salt
-He was able to produce Feliciano, Henderson, Linder, Flowers all players starting as rookies in the NFL and performing admirably
-Yearby had a 1,000 yard season and Duke is the all time leading rusher under Kehoe
-We were in the top 25 for sacks given up

When you look at it that way, one might think he is a great hire. But we all think he underperformed. Again, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. He didn't do all that great but Golden is an absolute piece of **** and did no favors in helping Kehoe.

You shouldn't get bashed but you never know with this board. They dont seem to get how dynamic each situation is. The truth is that if you try and posts stats from a guy's career and you dont take into consideration every aspect of that could influence those numbers then your just a clueless amateur on evaluating talent and know how. There have been countless coaches who have been fired or whom have been on the hot seat for poor seasons who are even considered hall of fame coaches.

I personally dont see how Kehoe is living up to any standard of being a top level college coach.

I see 5 star recruits coming and and flopping and I see guys going to the NFL and having good careers that absolutely did not look that great here. This years Oline was an abomination and even last years team who had some real talent on it was just not that good. I dont see kids flocking in trying to be coached by Kehoe either. My biggest issue is that he has to know how badly we performed this year yet we have zero OL coming in. If that were my squad and I knew I needed to do something drastic I would be recruiting my ask off.

This hire here could be the most important for next years's success. There is simply no way we are going to be able to compete with Clemson or UNC unless we do something really impressive to turn around our Oline.

Guys act like these coaches don't actually also depend on players being good. Look at relative improvement. The ****ty line at VT got less ****ty under him.....were they good, probably not, but it could have something to do with quality of athletes he had to work with. None of these coaches coach in a vacuum.

Come on you know stats are all black and white for any biased bashers.

I have no idea about the quality of his coaching, but IMO it's misleading to say he's bounced around. Very few coaches are going to have a resume like Kulikowski with 1 stop in 20 years and the ones that do usually stay where they are for a reason.

4 years at LSU (hired by Saban).
4 years at UGA (hired by Richt).
3 years at Texas under Brown, up until the entire regime changed.

This is his 5th job in 13 years and he only got fired from 1 of them. For comparison Orgeron has had 6 jobs in that time and everyone's favorite DB coach T-Rob has had 6 jobs since 2008. Just saying I think his duration at major programs seems about average, not an obvious positive or negative.
This is a good answer to the question posed by some about him bouncing around.

that and kehoe has been here for ages, that doesn't make him a god by default. Every situation is different. If he was bouncing around from mid major program to mid major then I would be concerned but UGA, Texas, VT, and LSU are no jokes

This...if he sucked so badly at these programs he wouldn't have bounced to another highly touted school. He went from powerhouse to powerhouse. They aren't in the business of taking someone that is known for sucking in their previous job.

excellent hire. he's the type to whip kids into shape and won't recruit bums like Gall, Loftus, etc.

I know the video is a well produced and limited look at the man, but compared to what I've heard and seen from Kehoe the last few years, this definitely seems like an upgrade.

Stacy Searles is doing EXACTLY what he did at Georgia

Count me as someone who isn't that excited about this hire.

That's because fans are morons. Just look how stupid our message board looks. I guess successful coaches that have coached their entire lives need to hire some message board twits to help them do a OL coaching search.

LOL... right according to many guys on this board Saban could even benefit if he came here before he hired someone and they definitely could help him out by telling him who should be fired on his staff. One of these FN blowhards actually had the audacity to say that it was debatable whether or not Richt had more football knowledge then him. Another one refused to answer but you know he felt the same way. I mean you cant make this shiat up these dudes are seriously FN delusional.

I'll tell you what....

Forget about the OC/DC for a minute....

We just went from a OL Ark Kehoe/DL Randy Melvin ... to Stacy Searles /Craig Kuligowski.!!!.

Holy ****. **** you Al Golden for doing ^^ to Miami. Thank you Mark Richt for this ^^

Jc

It all starts up front.

Excellent hire, IMHO.

Won a NC under Satan, was promoted at UGA and Texas (titles to keep him around?), and improved a horrid line at VT.

Also reputed to be a strong recruiter.

I like it. I like it a lot.

I'm just happy Richt is hiring guys who have coached & won at big programs.

Out of our 4 NC winning coaches - I would only consider Howard & Jimmy "elite" coaches. Dennis did win 2 - but he inherited quite a machine - thanks to Howard & Jimmy. And Coker, well, nothing else needs to be said.

So, 34 years of Canes football has taught me 1 truth about Miami coaches, which was best explained by Remy in Ratatouille (sorry, have kids) when he said:

"Just because anyone CAN cook does not mean everyone SHOULD."

Miami CAN win with a Coker but that does not mean it SHOULD.

It SHOULD and must demand more quality from its coaching. While getting another Howard or Jimmy remains the dream, at this point settling for another Dennis would suffice.

The program needs to taste success soon. So all in with CMR to see how this ride turns out.

Anyone stat junkies here know where to find out his rushing yards/game, sacks allowed, passing yards/game, etc. under his tutelage at all his stops. Would be nice to see how he stakes up.

Also...how is this guy as recruiter?

The only stats that matter is how guys improved and even those need to take into consideration who left the program. You could have the best coaching year of your career right after you lost 5 studs seniors and have a poorly rated season.

My god someone posted stats from this season that showed how our Oline was better than Alabama's in 3 categories. Stats without full context are basically lies.

One great means of evaluating this guy is looking at who he worked for.

You can bet your *** that the guys that have hired him are looking at more than just stats and they know way more than any porster on this board does. His list of HC is super impressive. Moving from one to another. Not downshifting to FBS or the Canadian football league.

Position coaches leave because of fit, money, famliy issues, alma maters, personality conflicts, scapegoats and a litany of other reasons to sit here and analyse those as all being bad is serving an obvious agenda.
