Stacy Searles Ol coach

Anyone stat junkies here know where to find out his rushing yards/game, sacks allowed, passing yards/game, etc. under his tutelage at all his stops. Would be nice to see how he stakes up.

Also...how is this guy as recruiter?

How is coaching at 4 places in 11 years, when twice the change was precipitated by HC transitions, somehow concerning? And while you can't just write off the two years at VT, come on man. There's hardly a single offensive skill position player, aside from Ford, and certainly not a QB, who most of the ACC would even take in the last two years.

Richt could have hired Joe Bugel and fans would have found something to complain about.

I have no idea about the quality of his coaching, but IMO it's misleading to say he's bounced around. Very few coaches are going to have a resume like Kulikowski with 1 stop in 20 years and the ones that do usually stay where they are for a reason.

4 years at LSU (hired by Saban).
4 years at UGA (hired by Richt).
3 years at Texas under Brown, up until the entire regime changed.

This is his 5th job in 13 years and he only got fired from 1 of them. For comparison Orgeron has had 6 jobs in that time and everyone's favorite DB coach T-Rob has had 6 jobs since 2008. Just saying I think his duration at major programs seems about average, not an obvious positive or negative.
This is a good answer to the question posed by some about him bouncing around.

Not getting the excitement... If he's so good, why has he been to so many places?
I see what you are saying. But at the same time tenure at one place has to mean you are great then right? Kehoe has been far from great... I hope he hasn't moved a lot because he sucks. But time will tell. I gave Al 3 yrs. I'll gladly give Mark that many. In Richt I trust. Let's hope he's right on these hires.

that and kehoe has been here for ages, that doesn't make him a god by default. Every situation is different. If he was bouncing around from mid major program to mid major then I would be concerned but UGA, Texas, VT, and LSU are no jokes

Read his bio and then say he's a bad hire....

hokiesports.com :: Football :: Stacy Searels

I'm not saying he's out of this world but he's proven and has the body of work.

Going to watch film of his lines through his career at schools and get an idea of how he operates.

I do expect the run game to improve quite a bit under his watch of the OL.

he has coached a bunch of all conference and all americans and he has also his teams give up very few sacks.
He is a hard nosed guy too.

btw, this is another coach NO ONE predicted coming here. no one has had a clue about any of Richt's hires.

Fwiw, he's a power blocking type of coach rather than a zone blocking guy. Not sure how that meshes with our team

In short, a **** TON better.

I generally step away from OL technical stuff and hope for guys like courcy75 and gogeta4 and a handful of others to pop in and tell us about the life of a kickstepper, etc., but I just want to know one thing about this guy:

How is he in training converted Guards to Tackle? Because we got those for him.

Good to hear and would like more specifics from people on this subject.

I came across an article about him how he was quoted as favoring power blocking and having a physical presence. Part of the reason he left at some of his prior gigs was due to a change in philosophy (zone blocking with spread, etc).

I think that people can look at the recent hires in a variety of different ways. They can spin different numbers to their benefit. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I'm going to get blasted for this but something kind of ironic would be Art Kehoe getting hired somewhere else and the fans on that message board being incredibly excited about it. They would say things to justify the hire. Things like:

-He was in a bad situation with Golden so take his performance with a grain of salt
-He was able to produce Feliciano, Henderson, Linder, Flowers all players starting as rookies in the NFL and performing admirably
-Yearby had a 1,000 yard season and Duke is the all time leading rusher under Kehoe
-We were in the top 25 for sacks given up

When you look at it that way, one might think he is a great hire. But we all think he underperformed. Again, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. He didn't do all that great but Golden is an absolute piece of **** and did no favors in helping Kehoe.

to be fair, kuligowski we all heard rumors a few days in advance, hartley, and jon richt were both expected to come and manny diaz was mentioned a few times on the board (although I'm not sure many took it seriously)

searles, brown, ivey(maybe) would all be surprises

Why has he bounced around so much if he's so great? Wouldn't all these great programs do what it takes to hang onto such a great coach?

Looks eerily similar to a Jethro type who bounces around and has an impressive looking résumé that doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

Cause he's a position coach and you move to increase salary base.

actually his name came up a few times on the board, not by staff, as a potential candidate
