Watching the replay of the game gets me scratching my head about his calls. By far most of the time LSU got pressure on Blowsier it was not because our olinemen got beaten one vs one. When they knew who to block they actually did a pretty good job of blocking them. So I don't think it is a strength or blocking technique issue. But, it appears that we struggled mightily picking up blitzes. Now, LSU did a good job of bringing blitzes from different players, but more often than even I could read a possible blitz from a corner or LBer presnap and the oline still failed to rotate accordingly. I don't know if that was on the center, guard, or QB. Someone isn't making the right adjustments on the offensive line against the blitz. At the end of the day it is Searels who has to coach these guys up. We always learned you gotta seal the middle of the LOS first and if you have to allow a rush you do it from the outside. Which creates the pocket. You can be the best blocker in the world but if you miss a up the gut blitzer you give the QB no chance. Other teams see this and you can bet they will tee off on Blowsier from now on. Bud Foster right now has to be laughing his *** off because he knows exactly how to beat us.

Picking up blitzes has been an issue with this team for far too long. They looked like a group of matadors Sunday night any time LSU blitzed. Of course that's partly on the the RBs as well.

Ask any of those big time program fan bases Searles coached at and they'll all tell you he was mediocre.

Can anyone go back to the tape and see if it was J Jones who was the one consistantly not blocking a guy right up the gut.

Just about all blocking schemes up front are based on "counts", areas, or zones. I ask about Jahair because he might be just that bad. If it was happening to boulware, mahoney, and everone else then it might be a scheme and protection issue. But then is it oline or QB.

Whoever was at Left guard made some bad reads. St Louis also got beat a couple of times because he did not anticipate the corner blitz. People say he was too slow but it was a slow read not his feet that failed.

Y’all know it’s Rozzier’s job to do the check....just like it was Burrow’s job to do it against us right?

Barry Jackson wrote an article about how we paid a considerable amount for Searels (at Richt's request) and this guy is one of the biggest liabilities on the team. That guy Searels should be arrested for grand thief the amount of pay checks he's stealing.

I was NEVER IMPRESSED with Stacy and what not! And I do mean never! And now an INEXPERIENCED LSU defense " punked " Miami on national television. Go figure.

I have a very close friend who's son is an o-lineman recruited by a number of schools, including us, as well as several schools with staff either connected directly to Searles and his previous stints, or schools (with staff still in place) where Searles coached. The dad told me that nobody actually negative recruited against Searles, but it was made clear by every one of these connections that Searles was subpar. They were absolutely respectful, but the message was clear ... he's not a great coach. Having said that, the dad also would have been happy for his son to play here but we slowed played him (and he understood, no hard feelings) so we could try and get a local kid and make some inroads with a local coach. The dad loves UM and I have known him for 20+ years so I trust him when he says he would have sent his son here, but it would have been in spite of Searles, not in any way because of him.

Can we give Searless back to VT?!?

The Oline did a good job overall... we broke out some nice runs w/ Travis and DJ but didn't use them enough. Richt started out that 1st drive with some trash run plays and got away from it letting Rosier throw incompletions all day.

The main issue was blitz pick up but we were about as good as I would expect honestly... i remember one time their MLB got through on a inside blitz, but the next times he was bottled up.

They kept beating us around the edge w/ the safety blitz but our RBs picked it up most of the time some times we didnt... when a team is blitzing their is really no way to completely neutralize it consistently without scaling back the offense.

How much of this is really on Searles, though? Serious question. If we're not picking up blitzes, that seems to me like an issue for the whole offense.

Why are we not calling them out pre-snap? Why aren't our RB's doing a better job of blitz pickup?

Part of it might come down to our senior "experienced" QB making the wrong pre-snap reads as well. Can't really say.

If Rosier were worth half a **** as a QB, he would have thrown to his hot reads a few times.... pretty sure that didn't happen.

I still don't know about him. We have recruited the position like trash. Until we actually get some grown men on that line shxt isn't going to change no matter what coach we bring in.

I'll give coach richt credit and he's hinted at it more than once, he said something along the lines of, "those guys(the young qb's) have to began to carry themselves like qb's at a University should carry themselves" in other words coach richt is more cooncerned with the mental growth of his qb's off the field above winning football games on the field. Alot of people called gumbo fisher and Fsu all kinds of names for playing winston while in the midst of those allegations. Coach richt would've been great for winston's off field development, so far, i dont think he will put winning above off field issues with his qb's.

So while perry and company are starting to get first team reps, richt will continue to let them be back-ups untill he thinks they're ready, cause the one thing thus far with rosier, he carries himself well on and off the field. Coach richt is trying to humble those guys and make them to know that the starting qb job is not mandatory but a privilege. He's counting on the team leaders to raise up and get those guys straight. But jimmy johnson like he said, he treated his star players different, that was known so he never lost a team behind the method that he used. We'll see how things pan out with the coach richt way, cause guys want to win here fo real!

We made it easy on the LSU defense when we fell so far behind...they were teeing off knowing we had to pass. Hard for any offensive line to be effective when that far behind. Also when your QB is moving around too much it is hard to form a pocket. Rosier and Feagles put us down so quick we were doomed. I'll give the OL a pass on this game for that reason alone. Oh, and we knew LSU was loaded on defense and they were experienced unlike what someone said here. We gifted them this game
