Stacey Coley...

Yet another game where he had no impact.

BUST

The year may be a bust for him, but it's WAY too early to call him a bust as a player. He started the year off with a shoulder injury after coming in with high expectations and has yet to get his confidence back. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him ball out next year and be what he showed flashes of last year.

Please shut up calling the kid a bust we have to many receivers that are talented to have him making most of the catches its a legit 6 nfl receivers on our squad herb is our 2nd most talented receiver and he's barely getting any catches just chill

We were blinded by his speed last year and quickly concluded that he was a future All-American but failed to noticed that speed was all he had. Where were the above-average routes(he was a freshman)? Where was catching the ball cleanly? Where was making defenders miss on anything other than a screen? As I've said before he's an athlete first, receiver second.

Probably has a lot of potential but we don't have the staff that will tap into it.

Waters is our best WR and I honestly don't know why he's not featured more.

Sophomore slump? I don't think so it's the injury combined with a general lack of strength to begin with. The injury doesn't allow him to lift to get stronger. And he never was a great down field blocker to begin with. Only way to get on the field is to block and he doesn't do that so he doesn't play.

Chicken or the egg argument here

Is he not blocking because of the injury or was he not a very good blocker to begin with and now because of the injury he's even worse?

Yeah the injury is definitely a factor, either it is still hurting (don't know) or it is affecting him mentally. I can't say whether or not he was a good blocker before the injury but he definitely looks to be playing tentative.

I imagine all it might take for him is to make a few plays to get his confidence back.

could you tell me the routes we actually run, I've been asking this for weeks for all the people who say routes routes routes?

Lost his mojo

Needs a big game to get his confidence back

and really...it looks like Coley is trying everything and anything to get this kid back on track....even at the expense of the team. Do we really need to see him returning kicks anymore? Is he not able to handle some tough love? I'd love to see Dorsett get some time returning kicks to help his NFL future AND the Canes.....right NOW!

It looks to me like they're trying to bury the kid...bubble screens, dumb-*** trickeration wild cat reverses. They haven't even attempted to throw to him down field since the second game of the year when he dropped a sure touchdown. Isn't he a wide receiver? Then get him in the mix. If he can't hack it then at least we know what we have. I'm betting that once they show confidence with him, he reverts back to form.

The same thing happened last year when he dropped one of Morris's passes early. The only difference is they went back to him.

Maybe theyre not throwing to him because he's not getting open? Even last season how many times did he get open down field? His highlights are all screens that he took to the house (which is awesome) and plays with busted coverages like Pitt, or against USF who was horrendous. Not saying hes a bust, just dont think the staff is trying to "bury the kid." He has tremendous potential but needs to improve. We've played garbage teams all season and he hasn't done anything, thats a pretty big red flag.

Exactly. Remember, it took Bush a while to come back from his injury and begin playing even close to his old self, even after he was 100% medically cleared. Coley's year is a bust, but it's completely unfair to say that he is a bust. We'll see what he does next year.

I believe it is Coley who has ruined Stacey. Took his head out of games, and now he is down. mental aspect of playing is as much of a factor as Physical. Kid can still be special.

How do you guys say Coach Coley is "doing everything he can to get Stacys mojo back"
Personally doing everything to me means not always ******* calling a dam we screen when he's on the field. It is absolutely ridiculous. Last yr we didn't run half as many screens. They don't get Stacy the ball past the LOS, and that is a fact.

Kick return units terrible and he only stays on the field for end around and ****.

Stacey is actually a good blocker... I seen him lay the wood on a couple of Duke long runs this season...
