All that talent and Lakeland still beat the **** out of them in the State Championship

Finally, you said something sensible.

As to why that is, it's more than just coaching. Lakeland kids are groomed from early on and used to playing with one another. STA is just a mercenary, while talented, is assembled with the hopes it all fits together.

I don't hate STA, but I don't mind them losing as they're what's wrong with athletics IMHO. I would rather someone build something than just poach talent from other schools to win. Laughed out loud as Rique's team lost out in the playoffs to the team he left trying to do just that. Cosmic lesson to the young man right there, wonder if he was listening.

I know there have only been 2 Openings so far but to have 6 guys from the same school in the top 25 all with Rating over 100 is pretty crazy considering that 5 out of their 6 top recruits weren't even on the list...

All recruited to the same school. SFL is like the NBA....kids all try to team up and go where they think they will win

I don't necessarily think STA is poorly coached on a grand scale...OVERALL. I think they have some good coaches on their staff. I think they have deeper issues than coaching. I think it's a cultural thing. Too many mercenaries. Too much false bravado and corny a$$ chanting. And they take on the personality of their head coach, who by all accounts is a great man but let's not sit here and pretend he's a tough guy or anything. Not many things are cornier than STA's pre-game rituals. They spend as much time chanting as they do warming up. I don't even know how they remember all those **** chants. **** is borderline optimist ball.
Those kids are also surrounded by countless adults who constantly tell them how amazing they are. STA fans/parents are nauseating.

Everything you said was great & I agree but this last part is 100% spot on & perfectly said.

STA kids are treated as if they're God's gift to earth & have the biggest hype train ever lol.

Lakeland poaches too, they get the best talent from around Polk County

Exactly.
And the year before they lost to a bunch of undersized/slow white kids from Venice.
STA has no business losing to anybody.
They may be slow and unathletic but I remember from when we played them they are very disciplined and their coach does an amazing job on both sides of the ball. Especially the offensive side of the ball. They kept it close with us into mid 3rd. All that being said I think annually sta is one of the most overrated schools in the nation. They are the Notre dame of high school football and horribly coached.
