Spring Transfer Portal

It's almost as if high school recruiting still has to be the bread and butter.

I'm still not opposed to overpaying short term for some difference makers, and I believe we have to this cycle.

Yes.

And I'm not trying to knock any particular poster, but there's just a disconnect from reality when people think we are going to get 2 or 3 "best player at their position" types out of the Portal at the same time. Guys from the Portal are largely looking for either a better school or more playing time than they had at the last place. EVERYONE is raving about Matt Lee, who thinks we are going to get some starting-caliber TRANSFER from another school who will want to sit behind Matt Lee all next year?

Plus, if you look at what Mario is doing with BOTH Matt Lee and Lou Cristobal...they are both smart guys who have potential futures in the OL coaching profession. Again, not every single factor is "who is the best player out there and why aren't we offering him" when it somes to searching for backups.

It's a two-way street. We have to find guys who want to come to UM to fulfill whatever role we need them to fulfill.

Told ya’ll about Beck. When we were having that discussion about blue chip QB bust v. 3 star QBs, & I said a lot of the QBs that’s been considered “bust” were in stacked QB rooms.

I saw UGAs Spring Game & class of 2020 4* QB Carson Beck looked like the better of the two QBs. Beck had to sit behind Daniels & then later Bennett. Now he’s put himself in position to be QB1. These young jits don’t want to wait their turn. Vandagriff has a cannon & speed to escape, but he was like Eason when he first got to UGA, erratic w/ accuracy & feel of the game.

Best thing for him is to wait his turn or he’ll end up like Eason & have his draft stock plummet since he wasn’t ready to be QB1. Not sure why these kids today lack patience in wanting to be developed.
It’s the 5 star that was attached to his name in high school that is making him impatient.
