Cooper is a big loss to me because he was plugged in and held a spot down for multiple seasons. Was a leader, maybe he wasnt an all american but in our system he was dependable and held his own. When playoff time came, we never had to worry about him doing his job, just having to replace that with unknown makes it a loss.

Im sure we will have a young guy ready to play against stanford, but I care more how they perform against ND on road and when top teams with elite defenses are locked in with elite front line talent can you be counted on or are you exposed.. For whatever people say cooper wasnt, he always did his thing and was never a weak link.
This. Coop was a **** good player here. He was a leader and held guys accountable. I still remember his Freshman year he was the only guy on the OL moving anybody against FSU.

I think Cooper was good but he made ALOT of mistakes. Bell and Cici were huge loses. I didnt like our Center but he improved towards the end of year. Center is important, I assume its Ryan who will start.

Marty a beast. Give him the ball on ALL short yardage situations. I only recall two times last year where he didn't convert.
He was my favorite back last year. Mark was a stud, especially during the playoffs, but Marty was clutch as **** and tougher than an armadillo shell. I love his ability in the passing game. He saved Beck’s *** a few times when it was most needed.

And not one fumble rushing all season. He coughed up one on a swing pass but that's it.

Most Impactful guys from last years team we'd want to return:
1. Mauigoa
2a. Bain
2b. Scott

Genuinely think that really only 3 guys that are leaving that we would really have liked/dreamed of keeping to make this roster even better. Like sure losing Mesidor, Thomas, Cooper, Bell, and Blay, etc... And Mesidor will be a 1st, but like Damon Wilson + Lightfoot... I feel fine. Going from Cooper to Buchanan (or Samson and McCoy if Mauigoa had returned) is fine. Thomas leaving but Fitzgerald will play more and Thornton and Dunnigan...

Offensively, Mauigoa imo is clear #1 simply because OT is probably the biggest Question mark of this roster as of today. If he had returned I legit think there would be no actual weakness whatsoever to this offense. Like literally zero.

Defensively, Scott vs Bain would be a difficult decision (like if you could only return 1 on each side). Like technically we are extremely deep at DB and DL. But really nobody is close to as proven and impactful as Bain at SDE against Run and Pass. So while we all think Blount + Lowe will be great there, tough to truly replace a top 5 pick in Bain. Scott though may legit have been the most impactful player on the entire roster. I mean certainly up for debate between him, Bain and like Fletcher in the playoffs... Truly elite performance last season. We have a **** load of DBs I feel comfortable playing, but the run support he provided was truly excellent.

Cooper was above solid, whatever you would call that level, wasn’t afraid of big games but also benefited from playing next to Cici for three years.

Even Bell would of been great really.. He held it down on the left side

Agreed 100%. This roster is fkn loaded. Once they get the OL set and what the schedule is we are going to be playing a lot of depth throughout the year jumping on teams in the first half
The amount of work our 3rd stringers should see this year should be the most since 2001. We should be putting teams away early, and often. Yeah, I expect the OL to get more gel time, but I also expect to see some backup OL in there in the second half of several games.

Wonder if wake did any damage in portal, I know they lost their best players but they were decent for their coach last season..

We realllllly owe FSU a beating.. I was ready to turn Doak into Canesville '24 Cam Ward coming out party but both Hetherman and Dawson was on some dumb **** in 4th qtr.. SMFH..

That was some Larry Coker level foot off the gas, and I hated every second of it.
