Spring Spring PractiSe 13: Tuesday April 8

The blame is on the coaches, he’s not Miami level. He’s being compensated way above his abilities, don’t worry about his feelings.

I hope you don’t have kids. Or reproduce the way you want to coddle these kids

I think you are being a little harsh and the pendulem doesnt always have to swing too far before it corrects itself.

Silo A - Has miami QB recruiting been up to par in Mario's tenure to ensure quality depth and development? No. I think that is a fair and objective response. Same can be said with other positions, the QB room right now on paper has a limited ceiling and is not a championship room. Again, objective and fair criticism.

Silo B - Emory must have something about him. Coaches like em, team likes em, he like the university, maybe his value is not on the field but off, holding people accountable, breaking down film, idk but saying he is not "capable" of winning games is a stretch and simply not true. Two years ago he started and beat Clemson. Now look at the backup for Indiana, PSU, UGA, SMU, all the other teams you mentioned, now take that person and insert them in Miami's lineup with that supporting cast two years ago against Clemson, you think 7/7 times (or how ever many teams you listed) all would win? Of course not. Doesnt mean those backups werent capable of winning, they just didnt.

I guess I missed it, but what is Patterson's injury and when did it happen? He practiced the first part of the spring correct?

Nickel balled today.

I’m a big fan. He’s not afraid to throw. That quality may lead to some growing pains, but it will ultimately make him a good quarterback.
We need Luke to step up...

If he's QB2 when season rolls around that'll go a long way for future success.

We have to be able to establish some semblance of stability in that room...

Except SMU, Texas, Penn State, Indiana, Georgia all had QBs that were capable of winning games

They weren’t relying on bums like Emory Williams
The teams u named did not “rely” on the backup to go win them games, they had rosters (defense, and rushing attacks to be exact) that allowed them the opportunity to still win games in the absence of their starter . we literally BEAT dabo Clemson with that same bum QB starting because our D n running game gave us a chance. In SMU’s case the backup was just simply the better player which is not the case 95% of the time. If beck is lost for entire season yeah you can say we’re screwed but if our defense n running game is up to par could we still beat the NC states n UVA’s of the world, if the answer is no then well..

Lord Huron...

Lonesome Dreams, Strange Trails, Long Lost

Going to Nashville in late July to see them at the new Pinnacle indoor venue.
A bit early to estimate their greatness in the grand scheme of things. But I'm actually listening to Long Lost right now- and I'll be seeing them on the same tour this summer.

Also- you left out Vide Noir in that sequence, but I agree it isn't as strong as those other three.

95% is preposterous

5/12 playoff teams utilized back up QBs

SMU
Texas
Indiana
Penn State
Georgia

All needed their back up QBs last year to be utilized to win meaningful games last year and they all came through for their teams and were the difference in making the playoffs and not making it last year
Indiana used the bafckup QB to win against UW(losing record) Wrong
Texas beat UTSA, ULM, MSU (combined record 14-23) Wrong again
Penn State beat Wisconsin(another losing record) Wrong again
Georgia.... Stockton did nothing against UT and lost to ND

Still looking for meaningful games. And besides Jennings the backups for those schools you mentioned didnt really look impressive

I would argue the distinction of creating heavy Metal goes to Black Sabbath.
And I could argue that Sabbath also unintentionally created Speed Metal. I believe the song Paranoid is that spark that many years later became Speed Metal. Go back and listen to it. Crazy but that song was basically a filler on the album of the same name.
Jethro Tull is the sneaky pick for metal progenitor.

And who exactly told you that? Because we don't have a rotation set at safety and 2 of them come in heavy. Far as LB we really got no clue how that room is gonna play out. But possibility exists malik goes back in that room and Bobby and Aldarius will tear your whole head off. Popo ain't no slacker either. So to say we lack physicality isn't exactly genuine since we don't know how either position group gets set.
I think actually both D$ and Macho have said something similar but different lol. I took the post you are responding to in the context of what those guys said and it wasnt that we "lacked physicality", it was we dont have a tone setter or true leader on defense that will rally the troops. I can see where saying we dont have a tone setter on defense can be lost in the game of telephone where it is then said we arent physical.

Perhaps Bobby or Hayes or Popo see red once those lights turn on, thats not saying they arent physical just not in the mold of some of our head hunters that were ALSO the leaders of the defense. I think the latter is fair because game 1 I am interested to see who is the on-field defensive captain, maybe he is on the team maybe its a portal MLB, who knows.

Losing any of those games knocks those teams out of the playoffs AKA meaningful games

When Penn State back up came in to game they were losing at halftime

When Stockton came in to the game UGA was losing

every single of those back up QBs are superior to Emory Williams

These threads used to be loaded. Now it’s just a waste of time.

Yeah Vide Noir was too different a sound for me although some of the tweaked renditions from the Alive From Whispering Pines sessions sound much better (Balancers Eye, Never Ever). They're coming to Raleigh on the tour but I've always wanted to see them in a smaller indoor venue thus the trip to Nashville in July.

Dmoney and coach macho said they haven’t seen it. Those guys may have it but you got to do it. None of them showed it last year either. And it’s been said the lbs haven’t looked good
