Goooood morning Canes fans and what a beautiful morning for some spring football! The early viewing part of practice on Greentree lasted about 20 minutes, and there was a lot going on at once, but here were a few of my impressions.

**As expected, the QB rotation is like so on Day 1 of Camp:

(1) Malik Rosier
(2) N'Kosi Perry
(3) Cade Weldon
(4) Jarren Williams

**Rosier was the most consistent on his passes, throwing mostly strikes in drills constituting play-action weak side rollout, quick bubble screens, and hitches. Perry was off and on, mixing in dimes with low and away balls and passes behind the receiver. Williams was notable for an accurate throw that was on the money for his first pass, but neither he nor Weldon stood out. Again, very limited action here and with no defense.

**Williams looks the part of a top level QB. Any possible (unfounded) concerns about his weight have been put to rest, as he has a solid build.

**Redshirt senior Darrell Langham was first in line for single receiver drills matched up with Rosier. When the team went three wide, it was Langham and fellow senior Dayall Harris first up on the outside, with sophomore Jeff Thomas in the slot.

**Another receiver note, freshman WR Daquris Wiggins got his first spring action of his career and looked especially quick, making the catch and getting upfield smoothly.

**Junior Michael Irvin II was first up with the tight ends with Rosier and he stood out... in a negative way. He had as many passes bounce off his hands as he caught, while also looking slow. Sophomore Brian Polendey, the only other scholarship tight end on the roster for spring, wasn't much better, dropping his first pass from Perry as well.

**As some have predicted, redshirt senior Terry McCray was getting reps at DE today. Will be interesting to see if that's a permanent move.

**Didn't get a chance to watch much else, but one other player I did see was redshirt freshman Robert Burns, who has put on some serious pounds. He looks like he may be being groomed for a role at fullback.

**Malek Young was out at practice helping out with the cornerbacks after his career-ending neck injury suffered in the Orange Bowl.

Irvin looks like he is not really into it totally. I have heard that Polendey is around 245. I hope it is true as his blocking is needed. Hew as a good blocker in HS.

We all know are best 2 TE are in still in HS right now.

This spring he’s going to show why he’s a coach on the field. The slot is perfect for his quicker than fast traits and scrappy play. I expect big things out of Mr. Few

I thought he played some special teams last year if I'm not mistaken. Hunter Renfrow concurs with your post. Kids get missed. Marshall has similar size to Renfrow. Would be a nice story.

Yes played a handful of games on special teams. Has good size, I think he can end up being the real deal.

Big things as in you expect him to take a snaps from Pope and Harley in the slot?

 

No reason to get bigger after a foot injury. If he doesn’t lose weight don’t see him being productive. Hope I’m wrong. Cause he was an athletic freak.

I was talking about ANYONE defending Rosier. Not your back and forth between u and cc. You weren’t the only person in this thread talking about Rosier in a positive manner.

I'm not defending it, I am simply pointing out that if you agree with Calinative (which I believe that you did), the fog of war can obscure who exactly said what.

It's no big deal, sometimes people get overly defensive. Only speaking for myself, yes, I generally ridiculed the concept of putting Deejay Dallas at QB over Malik Rosier, but I did not specify the individual who I was quoting.

Everyone needs to relax. I still think it is ridiculous to destroy Malik. Yes, he wasn't prepared for Kaaya to bolt a year before he should have. Yes, he doesn't have the best mechanics. But he is cool under pressure, his teammates like him, and he is a good (if not great) leader of the team.

And, yes, I want a better freshman QB to outplay him and win the job.

Every televised game that I watched, when the camera would pan to Rosier, most of the time he was sitting on the bench looking like he wanted to take a nap. I'd be screaming at the TV for him to wake the f*ck up! I saw no emotion, no sense of urgency, no passion. The stats speak for themselves and if watched closely, I didn't see much emotion, sense of urgency, or passion on the field either. My biggest concern, as is with most of you, is what is our alternative at this point?

Seriously I wasn't being completely serious about rather having Deejay and running wildcat all game.

Would I actually want to run a ******* Pop Warner offense? No. I'm using that to show how good awful Rosier was. Which is a point some of y'all seem to not be accepting. Anyone who even thinks Rosier was just below average and not straight trash except for in like 1 game, is lying to themselves, or just clearly weren't watching the games or looking at the stats.
