Spring ball is going to be competitive!!!

Wilson didn't come here to not start. It will be Wilson and Lowe starting with Lightfoot coming off the bench IMO.
I think he is saying it will be Wilson and Lowe with Lightfoot playing the same role as this past season. I could be wrong and don't want to speak for Dwin but that is how I took it.

The spring game should held at the Hard Rock probably draw 45-50K gates open 3-4 hours earlier for tailgating.

Prime Time scrimmage, OUTRAGEOUS

This team is that good , think of this arguably the BEST O and D in the country going st it full throttle laying claim to its dominance send out a warning BEWARE!!!

Thanks to the new scholarship numbers and the high number of early enrollees, Miami could enter the spring 3-4 deep at nearly every position with quality players across the board. The way this team improved as the season progressed, while returning both the offensive and defensive coordinators, sets it up to carry that momentum straight into spring practice.

When you combine that continuity with the sheer volume of talent on the roster, Miami could be looking at its most competitive spring in decades. I expect to see major development across the board and a team that rolls into next season positioned as the most dominant in college football.

QB
Miami goes into the spring 4 deep at quarterback, headlined by Mensah. The additions of Coleman and a more experienced Luke only raise the floor of the room and should lead to a higher level of competition and better practices overall.

HB
Returning the entire running back room while adding Javian Mallory gives Miami 6 scholarship running backs entering the spring, with five of them having real game experience. I do not think there is another team in the country that can say that.

WR
Miami enters the spring with 10 scholarship wide receivers, 6 of whom have college game experience. Between those 6, they combined in 2025 for 272 receptions, 3,721 yards, and 27 touchdowns. There is not a single team in the nation returning that level of production. Another key factor is the wide variety of body types and skill sets in the receiver room, which will consistently challenge defensive backs and accelerate their development.

TE
This is currently the only “thin” position on the roster and there are still 8 scholarship players (Elija Lofton 6-1 230, Jackson Carver 6-6 250, Luka Gilbert 6-7 255, Jack Nickel 6-4 260, Owen Ruskavic 6-7 250, Cole McConathy 6-5 250, Gavin Mueller 6-5 255, Israel Briggs 6-4 200). There are enough bodies in this room to go 3 deep, the question is are those bodies championship level.

OL
There is limited game experience in this group, but the talent level is high. With 16 scholarship offensive linemen, Miami will be three deep at every position along the line. With so many starting spots up for grabs, competition should be intense, especially with this group facing one of the best defensive lines in the nation every day. I expect to see major improvement here.

DL
Miami has 8 defensive ends and 9 defensive tackles on the roster, with 5 of them being former 5 star recruits. There are waves of talent across the defensive line. Many of these players are now upperclassmen, which should create serious competition for rotational snaps.

LB
Hetherman only plays 2 linebackers at a time, and Miami enters the spring with 7 scholarship linebackers on the roster currently. With Toure firmly established as a starter, there should be strong competition for the spot next to him.

CB
Like the running back room, the staff was able to retain the entire cornerback group. Five returning players who all made plays during the 2025 season, and when you add 3 highly rated and talented freshmen, the result is true championship level depth and talent at the position.

S and Nickel
These positions are grouped together because Hetherman often uses them interchangeably. Miami has ten scholarship players in this group, and with Poyser returning, that leaves nine players competing for two spots at boundary safety and nickel. I am really excited for Pruitt, Thornton, and Hussey competition at Nickel.

There will be no more walk ons playing in the two deep during the spring, which limits real developmental reps. Every player on the field will be on scholarship and competing for snaps. That is the kind of environment that drives real growth. Iron sharpening iron at Greentree
I literally cannot wait to see these battles at OL, DL, WLB, Nickel and WR. Competition at RB and CB should be absolutely insane!

Just DT. Who are your starters across Moten, Scott, Blount and Davis? 2 5 stars, a guy who played like a Day 1 or 2 DT during the playoffs, or a highly productive BiG starter/transfer who is only now peaking developmentally?

Obviously Moten will start and Scott is highly likely to be the other (if healthy for both). But the other two certainly have talent (though we still don't know if Blount will be exclusively at DT.

Also Jacquez Carter should factor in there.

I agree with you on Moten. Baller. Jump ball after that IMO. I watched Davis play in Nebraska vs Michigan. He wasn't lights out. But for a true sophomore held up very well including a forced fumble. Played as well as Scott last season. All three are going to take a big step in their third year with Damione Lewis as their coach.

I think the coaches are leaving Blount at DT. He did well there towards the latter half of last year.

Do you think lowe has near Mesidor/Bain potential? With the Missouri transfer at other DE Spot, that could be lethal.
Super potential, he has the natural body size pause. He isn't one of those he need to add weight types, Bain was like that where he came in physically ready. Don't know if Lowe has Bains bend but I know he has power and he was a 5 star, and usually the off season hype is real under Mario. 8 times out of 10 if they say someone is turning heads early I usually believe them. And as a TF they mentioned him a ton as being a dude and then he got hurt. He has Bains hand usage, straight violent. Pause Pause Pause

We will know early that he is one of them imo. So much talent in that room, Charles is the same way man. So many great evals in that room.

Honestly I am more worried about our OL next year retooling after replacing 4 of 5 starters. Thoughts? I know this is mirabal and Mario's strength, but that will be tough. I am cautiously optimistic but definitely concerned.

I feel like with that way we use those tight splits it benefits that OL development. There will be early mishaps for sure but the first 3 games scheduled are great for that. Cantwell will be big time and will be a bully, he will struggle with pass rush early then adjust. I think McCoy may be the LT and that's fine cause he can do it all, and Samson at LG is ideal cause he played really good there and has that XP there. The rest of the OL I wouldn't know but I do trust the staff in this area. It wont be perfect but it will be top 10 at worst top 20. And with the way Mensah plays just give the man 3 seconds. Again I could be wrong but I feel really comfortable about this season.

I think in 27 and 28 we will be a fully loaded true Miami, assuming we close on a lot of those top targets. But if you are concerned or anyone thats normal, we got a bunch to replace, even I get concerned at times. I have to make sure I am not being a homer and check myself sometimes.

ND on road this year will be the biggest challenge i think. I think we win at clemson and rest of games on schedule. ND is up for grabs. Also OL congdon will be good too but a lot of talent we have to replace in 1 year.

Wilson and Lightfoot without weight gain are not good against the run or setting the edge. If Lightfoot gains weight he would handle those 2 things better than Wilson. Wilson is just a dominant pass rusher. You simply can't have 2 starting DE's who can't do both of those things well. I think Lowe and Scroggins may get more snaps than people think. Blount is probably in their with them, but we don't know how his play is split between inside and outside.
No question, OL is the biggest concern. TE and LB depth are concerns also for me at the moment
