Spread offense

The only thing Miami spreads is their cheeks

That’s what Flagg likes on defense. He lets Olinemen there at the bottom spread his cheeks from behind.

I’m truly concerned about his executive decisions. Hires- 25% good at the coordinator level unless Dawson turns the corner.
Game day- 50% good (Clemson & uva) vs (ncst&gt) at best
Managing roster- mostly good but QB is such a key position you almost have to grade him as an F over this. Throw in how brown doesn’t want to play, other freshmen haven’t played yet may have big impacts if they could see the field.

When you hire someone like Mario, you expect nearly elite executive decisions and recruiting to make up for limited X&O skills. As of now, I’m not seeing it which has me very concerned since this isn’t his first HC job.

Why can’t any Miami head coach understand we need to run a uptempo spread scheme similar to what art briles ran at Baylor, Lincoln Riley runs at usc, or lane kiffin, not sure why we try to run this Alabama hybrid type system
You want to run that with Tyler at QB? Are you serious?

If there's any one of you on this board that thinks all we're missing for a championship run is a player at x, y, and z positions with the play calling that's going, you're crazy.
Underrated post. I get why people want to bench TVD and I'm not opposed to it, but you are kidding yourself if you think it's going to solve all of our problems on offense.

That's why I'm starting to get worried. I really believe we are just repeating ourselves around this time next season. Mario needs to hire a better OC and GTFO out of his way

Guess I'm a meathead but this is how my simple brain works.... our biggest problem is our QB. So don't put our fate in the QB's hands. That's it.

Spreading it out and running air raid is the last thing I would do. I would run the ball nearly every down if I were Mario/Dawson right now just given that the QB sucks.

Maybe I'm simple minded but I don't understand the argument for running MORE of the offense through your worst player, which is what some seem to be arguing. If you're gonna spread it out and sling it, that kind of seems to suggest you would need a decent QB to make that work.

I'd rather depend on Mark Fletcher right now than TVD, but that's just me. And go get an actual QB in the portal so you can run a normal offense next year.

It doesn't make you a meathead…No one (including CMC, but if you aren't Mike Leach on this board than you are fyzikal, bro-ball disciple) wants us to be a one dimensional running team long term…Or even entirely this game

But "bro-ball" is the only reason we came back vs. Clemson, and contributed greatly to winning VA. It is our only hope in this game…Shorten and steal it. We don't have a QB that can win this game otherwise, he's not on the roster right now barring a complete 180 from TVD (which I think we all can agree won't happen). That's not a slight at Emory Williams' long-term…He just shouldn't be expected to put up 250+ passing, 1 or less picks, and beat a top 5 team on the road at 18 years old. I

And while I agree with Fletcher leading the team in carries…We need to see Jacurri Brown, Brashard Smith in all types of facets, and even the occasional Henry Parrish to get outside (granted he doesn't pull away once he gets there but the burst is there and he showed it in limited action vs. NC St). Ground and pound with the occasional shot taken and moving Smith around our only chance this game.

Mins should be
Fletcher 15 carries
J.Brown (AGAIN MINIMUM) 15 snaps and 3-5 carries, no matter who the starter is.
B.Smith 7 touches
Parrish 5 carries

Then you let game flow dictate the rest…But Imo those mins have to be met and dictate our approach, I'm flexible on the Parrish one, just need to some speed in there with the ground and pound

You're looking at the extreme short term. Nobody is saying to completely change the offense this week. It's something we'd need to install next season. I don't want to have an offense that completely relies on the run and has to win by single digits every week because we don't have any explosive plays and we play at a snail's pace. You give yourself no margin for error running an offense like we are right now.

Yes I agree with that 100% and said as much. I don't want that kind of offense either. But I'm saying I believe it is the only reason we won vs. Clemson and imo with TVD turning into a pile of ****…It is our only prayer this week.

I'm talking about this game only and to a lesser extent, possibly the rest of this season…But I have no idea if Jacurri Brown has developed at all as a thrower…If he has not and you are going to play him, then yes it has to be for rest of season.

Lmao gus won a title as oc, urban meyer won a couple of titles, chip Kelly won a lot of games made it to the title game.
Lane was literally the OC for Bama when they won the title in 2015. He got fired right before the 2016 championship game that Bama lost to Clemson's no-huddle spread offense. Clemson won two titles playing that style. LSU won the title in 2019 not huddling and had probably the greatest offense ever. There's way more guys winning with that style of offense than guys who are winning playing ball control.

He had a boner as he uttered “ it’s a grind “. You could actually see the romance in his eyes as he wiped the sweat from his forehead in the third quarter. He was like “ ooof, old skool, beat head in wall oof, pound rok ,oof pound to submission, must make him give up oof oof.
I’m beginning to hate Mario man the more the offense reverts back to last year. He will fail here if he doesn’t let his coaches coach
