Every day, I get more excited about the prospect of Strong as our next coach. I think he is a good coach and I cant wait to see the meltdown on here when it happens.

Hire a coach that just got fired... makes sense

One coach has had success everywhere he's been, never had a losing season in the NFL, went to a Super Bowl, led the 49ers to three consecutive NFC Championship appearances, feuded publicly with an inept owner, and returned to his alma mater for a boatload of money. Their fan base rejoiced knowing they landed such an in-demand, high-profile, successful coach.

The other is failing spectacularly in his first crack at the big time, regressing already in Year 2, and is on the verge of being run out of town. Clueless offensively, getting annihilated defensively, and the only words people can utter to defend the atrocity known as his UT tenure are "bad fit."

If Butch is not the real choice, then who would a school which destroyed a great program on purpose pick as number 2 to a coach about to be fired for getting his rear kicked at one of the Top 5 programs in the country? I'm guessing another coach who is or has been fired for getting his rear kicked at a lesser program. So, Mark Richt, who will probably turn us down again. Then who knows. Can they actually pick Mario over Butch?

For me, I am clinging to the hope that this is all about cover story for Paul and Miller ending up forcing with Butch in. It sucks that Butch could be recruiting while these guys do interviews. I hope we don't lose our QB and MLB recruit while we wait. They are EEs and Jack has already said he has no interest in a option type HC.

Butch works in mysterious ways.

Can't keep track of all the HC candidates without a scorecard. Is anyone keeping track of the HC candidates falling by the wayside? There will be more wipeouts than Herman and Strong.

I think strong is a good coach that Texas job was a setup for failure since day one a lot of those Texas boosters don't want a black man running there football program they wanted sabian. Strong was a bandaid he was a tool for Texas i think he would do good hear?

Even if that were the case, how would that affect how his teams perform on the field?

Yeah because Al Golden won a BCS bowl with a team in the AAC. People want to claim Strong only won because of Teddy as if he didn't recruit or develop Teddy. If Teddy was such a sure thing coming out of high school than why didn't he choose a "better" school than Louisville? Teddy wasnt even the starting qb his junior yr of high school yet people act like his college coach had nothing to do with him becoming good or the team winning the way they did. And if you want to claim he only won because of Teddy, than how did numerous defensive players become top nfl draft picks under Strong like Mauldin, Pryor, Smith, etc. They fell into his lap too i suppose? Oo and before people claim Strong is a defensive coach and had nothing to do with Teddys development, well that may be true but guess who hired whoever did develop Teddy???

The Texas thing does scare me and should scare you. But to claim Strong is on the same level as golden or shannon is absolutely ridiculous. Whether you want to believe it or not high school coaches and players respect strong down here way more than they ever gave a **** about Golden. People on here continually say that Texas has all the resources in the world how has he sucked. 1. He had zero recruiting ties to Texas before he arrived (he does in Miami). 2. Kids have been getting offered and communicating with college coaches earlier than ever so to expect him to come in and defeat OK, atm, Lsu, baylor, etc immediiately in recruiting is absurd. You act as if those schools dont recruit as well. 3. Texas was in absolute shambles before he took over and people were flocking to numerous other schools because Texas lost the lust among recruits in the area. Also take into account when he took over he kicked off i believe it was 9 players 4. To sum up he already has plenty of relationships built down here, in my opinion the Miami roster as we speak is ten times better than the Texas team that he took over, and lastly the admin seems to actually believe in him unlike Texas board of trustees when they hired him. From day one he had people calling it a terrible move from within the school. Let me apologize if I believe he was set up to fail in Texas and that maybe just maybe it would take more than a yr and a half on the job to turn around.

Well what reason do you have for wanting a coach who is about to lose 8 games in his second season at a big time program that has endless resources and was an 8 win team when he took over.

I for one will be in favor if flying a banner at the first game he's here, even if I have to pay for it myself.

Maybe save that banner money and get an education.

You can't explain it can you. You have zero explanation to defend wanting a guy who is going to lose EIGHT GAMES at Texas in his second year. Do you realize that he has completely failed worse than any coach in recent memory? That's the guy you want? Thre are probably 50 coaches who have done a better job at major programs than he has. Gene fricken Chizik is better than him. Al Golden was better than this!

Look it's an intelligent post taking in all of the facts. I'm actually fine with Strong. I know he can build a defense with S. FL recruits. He already did it with 2nd tier ones at UL. All he needs is an kick *** OC. Give him Kaaya and an OC and we're off and rolling.

For Butch freakin Davis to be the "If all else fails and even the WR coach from Hawaii doesnt want the job" fallback plan tells you all you need to know about these guys. Even if that were true, out of respect for Butch I would publicly deny this statement if I were Blake. Have some **** respect for the man.

These guys have a hard on for Charlie for some reason. I dont hate him as much as some of you but there is no way in **** I choose him over Butch. How could you even explain that to the fan base? With a straight face?

Even though IMO Herman has zero interest in coming here and I think he is the "Jon Gruden" of this coaching search, I still think we can find a better option then Strong. Dont even get me started on Mario. Smh.

It should be unbelievable, but it's really not that surprising. This is pretty much what I expected them to do. Look at the last three coaching searches. Everyone thought it would be different now because Donna is gone but the reality is the people making the decision this time around are just as incompetent.
