I have always favored track athletes who could apply their track speed on the gridiron. Make no mistake, every track star is not a football player. One has to like contact and be engaged in order to put on the pads and be successful. Last year, it will surprise many that Quincy Wilson, who many hate around here, ran 48.4 400M. Always had mixed feelings why our team look slower than our other opponents but different coaches just have different philosophies. Below is a national list of athletes that will play college football but also may run track, a list that includes UM commit Jordan Scarlett, Amir Rasul, Brad Kaaya's old Teammate 2016 TJ Brock, and Torrence Gibson track times.

1. Darrion Flowers 10.27 100m TCU ATH
2. Ryan Newsome 10.38 100m UCLA WR
3. Paul Lucas 10.42 100m 20.84 200m 46.86 400m Arizona State RB
4. Amir Rasul 10.44 100m 21.09 200m Undecided Class 2016 RB
5. Javarius Davis 10.47 100m Undecided ATH (visited UM recently)

6. Devin Duvernay 10.48 100m Undecided Top 2016 WR
7. Jay Bradford 10.49 100m Texas A&M RB
8. Dontae Jackson 10.49 100m LSU ATH/CB
9. Patrick Carr 10.57 100m Undecided RB
10. Tavien Feaster 10.57 100m Undecided #2 Class of 2016 RB
11. TJ Brock 10.61 100m 21.13 200m (Brad Kaaya' s old teammate) Undecided Class 2016 KOR/PR
12. Shaun Crawford 10.62 100m Notre Dame CB
13. Kris Boyd 10.62 100m Undecided CB
14. Ronald Jones 10.63 100m USC (once had UM in his top 4)
15. Sean Mcgrew 10.64 100m Undecided Top 2016 RB
16. Nyheim Hines 10.65 100m NC. State RB
17. Roderick Archer 10.65 100m Florida Atlantic OLB/SS
18. Antonio Howard 10.67 100m West Virgina CB
19. Jordan Scarlett 10.68 100m 4.30 40 UM RB (Scarlett's 4.30 is the best 40 official time out of any player on this entire list. When you think of the length of a football field that 4.30 is dangerous)
20. Kirk Merrit 10.68 100m Undecided WR/ATH
21. Andrew James 10.71 100m 21.50 200m 48.13 400m Wisconsin Commit WR (South Florida least talked about WR)
22. Darius Slayton 10.71 100m Georgia ATH
22. Brandon Jones 10.79 100m Undecided # Class 2016 Safety
23. Tyler Bryd 10.89 100m
24. Chauncey Gardner 10.91 100m (Former UM commit) Undecided Class 2016 DB/SS
Other Times of Interest
Corey Dauphine 20.76 200m Texas Tech RB
Torrence Gibson 21.76 200m 47.7 400m OSU QB (UM target)
Shammond Williams 47.74 400m Undecided Class 2016 South Florida Athlete
Eddie Mcdoom 48.42 400m Class 2016 WR Dexter William's teammate
*Sam Bruce is also a Track Athlete

I still can't believe the staff tuned away Javarius Davis, you can't coach speed like that and he is a die hard Cane. Phillip Dorsett measured 5'9" and 183 lbs at the senior bowl this is after 4years at Miami in a S&C program, and Davis is the same size so what is Coley/Golden's deal in turning this kid away.

Was Dorsett a Shannon guy or a Golden guy?

He was the last of the guys recruited by shannon, Dorsetts class was a transition class which is why Barrow had to fight for Golden to keep Perryman in the class, because Golden thought he was to small. As is the case with a lot of the kids staff passed on and are making the same mistakes.

Just read on another site where Tracy Howard finished dead last in a 200 meter race in a field of 33 runners. We knew he was slow but still you would think he would outrun a guy or two.

Sickens me to my grave that he places ZERO emphasis on speed. He claims to embrace the past and respect our history but to not place a premium on speed at all positions is the total opposite of what this program was built on.

For a guy like Archer to not have an offer, running those times at that size is a crime.

Indoor 200M race is hard for a rookie. It requires speed AND endurance.

I'd be curious to know how he finished the race. More than likely, he's not strong enough to finish, yet. But he'll probably be one of the kids who improves his times the most by the end of the season.

He's not coming to the U but y'all should look at this Flowers kids film.

He looks like he's been shot out of a cannon. Electric as ****

+1

As long as he is working on his speed, then that is good for me.

Just needs to be put in a position for success next season.
