These speedsters are not currently being heavily recruited by UM, but I would love to see their recruitment skyrocket with UM. With many big Texas programs starting to fill up their RB spots, others may be forced to look elsewhere. Take either Scarlett/Patrick/or maybe Cronkrite as option 1, if failed, guys below as option 2.

I hope we take a look at a Nyheim Hines(ATH), he plays for my alma mater Garner (NC), one of the top 2015 prospects in the state(4.3 speed); hes put up video game stats this year(on the easiest settings). I think he has over 30 TDs already this year. 3 or 4 of those are kickoff returns. Dude outruns everyone.

Once his Junior highlight tape gets out, he will have over a dozen offers from BCS schools(4 currently).

Figured we had some luck with Berrios down the street; Id love to see Hines in O&G.

To clarify, 10.49 won state in 3A, not 5A, just in case Deis is still reading.

OP great write up, but I think UM will be fine in recruiting speed athletes in Florida. For instance I don't think any of those players you mentioned would make the All Dade County / All Broward County track teams. I think those guys would barely make Booker T Washingtons team, and those kids are fast as ****. Consider this UM 's 220lb full back/ rb ran a 13.83 sec 110m hurdle and also ran a 10.45 sec 100 meter at a dade county invitational. Trust that staff will find their speedsters.

I totally agree, but would you happen to know anyone on our radar with this type of speed that we are currently going after hard and that link was impressive

To answer your question UM has 2014 RB Brandon Powell currently committed, and is pressing hard for 2014 WR Dixon who is electric. Then there is 6'4" 217lbs WR David Njoku who runs a reported 4.47 sec 40yd time from New Jersey who just decommitted from Rutgers over the weekend, Canesinder had a brief write up about him he is the New Jersey State high Jump champ with a personal best of 7 ft. I will write something up about him a few and post it.

Go Canes!

Put it this way Oregon signed a kid in 2013 RB Thomas Tyner who is 5'11" 212lbs who ran a 10.38 laser timed 100m (not wind aided).

That is type of speed we are talking about. FSU signed to kids out Orlando in Marvin Bracy who ran a 10.28sec 100m and Kermit Whitfield his cousin (an one time UM Commit) who ran 10.15 sec 100 meter time. So Florida is in whole other league when it comes to speed then Texas.

Consider this last spring Plantation HS had a 4x100 relay team that ran a 40.3 sec time consisting of Walter Tucker (220lbs), Sony Micheal (210lbs), Torrance Gibson and Isaiah McKenzie. That is 100yds every 10 seconds by 4 football players from 1 south Florida team. A false start by Tucker at the Belle Glade Glades Central regional meet, however, cost them a chance at bettering their all-time Heritage record and a shot at a state title.

These guys must have all been running on the Va Tech track. You know, we've never had great luck with Texas track guys. The fastest guy ever didn't last a year, as I recall.

We once had a guy in the program who I think had a HS time of 10.12 wind-aided. He was probably the fastest ever at UM. Didn't last too long, went back to Texas.Should've been an Olympic hopeful. Things didn't work out for him in life. Ended up getting murdered a few years back.

Paranos stop having a conversation with your new screen name in this thread. It's freaking us all out, man.

Jeff Demps ran a 10.01 a few years back breaking the US high school record and also Houston McTear's state record of 10.14 set in 1974. Houston ran a 9.0 100 yards his junior year in a high school track state finals. The fastest 100 yards ever. He was averaging 14 yards a carry as a running back that year as well.

Justin Gatlin ran a 9.77 and went to high school in Pensacola. Texas has nothing on Florida speed.

Tory Mitchell. Btw, go check Texas' 100m and 4x100m times annually... They're right up there with Florida's and better some years. Difference is most of Texas' fastest don't seem to play football. Last year Desoto TX had a 40.09, nation's best, and also beat Cedar Hill by about the same margin in football as BTW (but didn't win state).

This thread is pure bunk. No one gives a hoot about Tex players. Almost all kids stay instate and very few head to LSU. Sure it would be nice to grab a stud like griffin every now and again, but it is not necessary. State of Miami 9outof10 has just about everything we need and then some.

One more thing to note is Soso is a dual sport athlete and interested in playing both sports in college. It would be wise for UM to attack him with allowing him the opportunity to star in both.
