Special teams

One of board highlights was when Calinative decided to discover advanced analytics and now he decides to do them to death in every post.

Like he just said anything anyone else didn't ^^
You must have been holding that in for years then, cause I’ve been on the board a long time

Either block me or stop being a lil ***** complaining.

Nah i’ll keep mocking you

And stop lying you increased your pff recital in recent weeks and months.

Imagine thinking we needed to know the special teams EPA to know how bad we were the other night.

Pff isn’t where I get any epa metrics dumbass. That I got an off sub changes what other stats I will also cite, not that I never was an analytics supporter lol. Again don’t read them

You don’t need epa, then ignore it lmao. I also showed the O+D epa… but ignore that too

Miami has blocked 4 punts since Mario arrived.
Miami Ohio has blocked 14 in the same time frame.
Davis was 111th in FG percentage, 17/24. Ouch!
Joyce was 44th in the country with a 44.4 average.

It sucks that we lost the Natty because this has been an issue for YEARS.

Because we know it already

Use basic ypp, epa, or the eye test.

Penalties too ...

Penalties are probably the one area where it genuinely makes no sense that Mario doesn't emphasize far more. Just seems weird he's ALWAYS a bottom like 25% in penalties team... It's weird. You'd think with his mentality he wouldn't accept so much undisciplined **** like that and NEVER punish guys for major mistakes in game. Like it genuinely infuriates me when a RB fumbles and then is in the very next drive even though we have a stable full of RBs we can use. And I'm talking like not a critical moment where you need to just put them back out there and trust them.... And like all the jacolby George Antics....

regular season
92 for 742 in 12 games: 7.66 and 62yards per game (around 110th in the country)
20 for 174 in the last 4 games: 5 and 43.5yards per game (around top 25-35 in the country)

Yeah and all them final 4 were concentrated in final 2.

That's gotta be a key to fix this off-season. Been 4yrs now of bad penalties ranks ...

OJ - PI - first half drive for 7
Bain offsides - same drive
2 holding calls on Pruitt during returns
Blount - facemask (Indiana punted)
Samson false start - still scored
Delay of game- almost scored (int)

FGs and punting hasn't been an issue for years with Hedley and Borregales.

Punt and kick returns and lack of blocking anything = probably right

This guy got his start in coaching under Schiano, from South Florida, played at and then later coached at St Thomas Aquinas. Worked with Heatherman at Minnesota as well.

Last he left Minnesota to become DC at Allegheny College. Weird.

Ok, very few KOs are returned in today’s game, so it’s hard complaining. Our guys, for instance, have done well kicking through the end zone. Punt returner’s first job is to secure the ball & not be afraid coming up on short kicks. Toney is better than average returner as well.
Overall, special teams hasn’t been an issue, though punt block against IU proved critical in loss. That’s on the player. Not sure what Bauman was thinking or doing. Other issue has been block in the back penalties on returns. Not good, but seems like officials enjoying calling them.
