Speaking of coaches in new places

If he knew how to run a competent defense, one would think he'd have run that defense at the job where he was making millions and millions of dollars to succeed, no?

Why wait until your career collapses back down to being a position coach for the hapless Detroit Lions before deciding to run a competent scheme? Seems bizarre.

Let’s face it, life is full of mysteries.

He was bitter he was mislead into signing here and not noticed if ncaa. He checked out and figured he’d get his boy paid. Guy could recruit and develop talent. Just wasn’t a fit here
He sucked horribly at recruiting. Wtf?

Really? Look at the kids he recruited with self imposed sanctions and others schools telling kids we were getting hammered by ncaa. Anyone who knows football knows the guy has an eye for talent and develops kids.

He struggled at recruiting, but hard to know if that was because of the NCAA in part. He was a good developer of talent based on all the kids he put in the NFL, but it did not translate to wins largely because of the D. South Florida recruiting was/is a problem, and if Mario can’t get that fixed, it probably can’t be fixed.

If only we had given him a few more years to get his players to make his system work.

Michigan ran for over 400 yards against Penn State.
They sure did. 1 game vs arguably the best rushing team in the country with a Heisman candidate as a running back will do that to you. I'm sure you'll bring up BYU vs UT and the UNC game. Far be it from me to "defend" Manuella, but let's at least try to be objective here.
