South Florida talent on display in bowls

I get it that we missed on some recruits, but these guys ended up at South Florida and Western Kentucky. Plenty of kids have gone on to win on the big stage at places like Clemson and Alabama. Those are misses. It's not a miss when no one else in the Power 5 wanted you either.

That's bull****....that's like saying, "oh nobody else got the question right on the test either". These guys play in your ****ing area code, you should have the best evaluations on them. You should find the less exposed kids

exactly

We need to get elite players, everyone can't play at Miami nor should we harp on it every 5 minutes.

Its millennial mentality. Shameful.

But then people say, luckily we stole "x" player from guy, or us for western Kentucky. The biggest issue was missing on the top flight players. If we get those kids we don't need the others, and the others wouldn't want to come because they will never move from the bottom of the depth chart

Elite?

Elite like Jon Cyprien, like TY Hilton, like D'Joun Smith, like Daughty, like Branden Oliver, Khalil Mack, Kamar Aiken. The list goes on and on...Then think of kids like James White or Charles Gaines, overlooked guys by the star gazers. What's elite? A 5 star? All of these kids could've played at Miami...look at them now. There will be more to come thanks to people like Golden

i think James White might of had an offer or was slightly recruited...

They dropped the ball on ALOT of the other guys...TY Hilton got crunched in a big wr class we brought in..adfd to it he played at Miami Springs...good luck with that.

You're not gonna fill your roster (completely) with "top flight" players. At some point you need to show the ability to evaluate 3-stars, lower tier guys who are productive ON FRIDAY NIGHTS.

You need to ignore stars and recruit players FOR YOUR SYSTEM.
Example: If you're running the spread offense you don't need 4-star and 5-star WR's across the board. You can sign that little 5'9" 3-star kid from Booker T Washington who runs a 4.3-4.4 and embarrasses his opponents on Friday nights. You get that kid and put him in the slot and watch him blossom.

What people fail to realize is that the talent in South FLA is so abundant that we have kids down here who are 3-stars but would probably be 4-stars if they played in another area.

What was Braxton Berrios, a 4-star? Yeah, well there's countless 3-star WR's from South FLA who are more explosive than him. They grow on trees.

Jon Feliciano was a 3-star despite having offers from Miami, Florida State, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Florida...pretty much everybody in the country. Why? Probably cause he didn't go to a lot of camps.

I don't think the star rankings are necessarily irrelevant, but it's a different ball game when judging South FLA kids. There are sooooo many D1 prospects down here that it would be impossible to give them all the stars they deserve. You'd be handing out 4 and 5-stars everywhere.

The 3-star kids tend to be a little harder to evaluate. They're not "no brainers" like most of the 4 and 5-star kids are.

Who cares... Really who cares what south fla players are doing in bowl games... Is this a south fla hype board or a miami hurricane football board...

lived in Metro Atlanta...and from South florida...

dont even argue the difference in high schol football or talent...its totally different breed here...

did u watch this year our teams all went to metro atlanta and ran a clean sweep.

Georgia and the metro atlanta is an area i would hit every year...but slow it down on comparing it to south florida....not close.

major recruits from here take a back seat to no one......Perfect example...BAMA is considered the best of the best....Any kid they get from down here...goes up there and starts....guys like Eddie Jackson (A kdi that is probably forgotten somewhat ins outh florida)..Calvin Ridley a kid that wasnt even considered the best prospect on his team..doesnt matter..Goes there and takes positions...
