MIAMI BEACH BOWL- Brandon Doughty (North Broward Prep) has already hit Nicholas Norris (Booker T) for a two long TDs. Look for Doughty to get drafted this year after setting various passing records. Jared Dangerfield (Royal Palm Beach) is also a possible NFL player at WR.

USF has Quinton "Winky" Flowers (Jackson) at QB and two corners that could have helped the Canes: Central's Deatrick Nichols (first team All-Conference as a sophomore) and freshman Ronnie Hoggins (Monarch).

BAHAMAS BOWL
- December 24 at noon- Check out Western Michigan junior receiver Daniel Braverman. Wide receiver out of University School who put up 103 catches, 1,266 yards and 12 TDs as a junior. High school teammate of Macgarrett Kings, who is a starting WR for Michigan State.

Did we ever go after Nichols? I remember seeing him as a prospect from one of the Central state champ teams and thinking he might be Miami talent

No. We badly botched CB recruiting that year. A lot of us really liked Nichols, especially Tito Benach.

Fun game to watch. Tyson Helton (OC at WKU) is going to do a **** of a job wherever he goes. He was my top pick here if Richt wasn't calling plays.

Unbelievable how bad Al and Co. were with recruiting WR and CB in the SoFla area.

Besides the can't miss guys like Burns, Coley, Carter, Bush, etc. they were absolutely awful at identifying talented prospects that would develop into solid performers on the next level.

In the 2014 class (which Nichols graduated in), we only took Ryan Mayes at CB. Makes sense why we have such a lack of depth now. Very frustrating considering that WR and CB grow on trees in SoFla

I get it that we missed on some recruits, but these guys ended up at South Florida and Western Kentucky. Plenty of kids have gone on to win on the big stage at places like Clemson and Alabama. Those are misses. It's not a miss when no one else in the Power 5 wanted you either.

Didn't Reilly Gibbons end up there after he flunked out of Stanford? Remember he flipped on us at the last minute.

Great football is played in areas other than south Florida. Look at the metro Atlanta area producing more draft picks than south Florida this year. On top of that Georgia has produced the most sec talent by far out of any state in the last 10 years. And a matter of fact a bunch of Miami's best players ever are not from Florida so please keep that in mind. Not every 3star or 2 star from south Florida deserve to play for Miami nor should we be reminded of it every 5 minutes either. The south Florida bias is suffocating at times...

Not to mention, every time I look up Western Kentucky is scoring again. But two corners from USF would have made a difference here?

The only guys that I thought were misses were Nichols (he is better than Mayes) and Flowers, who would've been a dynamite safety here (or, at the least, better than Rosier). Hoggins was a miss because we could've had a package deal with him, SBB and Calvin Ridley.

Just spotlighting the depth of talent from this area.

Nichols is better than Mayes, what's so bad about rosier, he looked good in the Duke game?

Right, it's just when you do that, the mopes get suicidal and act like we lost someone who would have flipped the score of the Clemson game. There was waaaaaaay too much wrong with our program to worry about missing out on some Sun Belt players. If we get those guys, we lose to Clemson 49-6 instead of 58-0.

It's all part of the problem. We lost out on South Florida superstars like Cook, Collins, Ridley and Kirkland. We also lost out on quality depth behind those guys.

Just curious....why didn't Hoggins go to Bama with SBB and Ridley?

we can continue to nit pick and question skill decisions until we're blue in the face...until Miami starts putting trench players in the top 3-4 rounds of the draft we will continue to see good south florida perimeter players being marginalized and UM being an average program

They didn't offer him. One of the perks of being on top. We were forced to get creative and we didn't do it.
