Miami, South Carolina Cancel Home-and-Home Football Series

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami and the University of South Carolina football programs announced Monday that they have mutually agreed to cancel their home-and-home football series for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The Hurricanes were scheduled to play at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C., in 2026 with the Gamecocks making the trip to Hard Rock Stadium in 2027.

Miami’s three 2026 non-conference games are Florida A&M (home), Central Michigan (home), and Notre Dame (away). South Carolina has a non-conference home game against Towson and a road game at Clemson on its 2026 slate. Both the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference are moving to a nine-game conference schedule in 2026.

Our game against them has been officially canceled!!

9 games of ACC is disgusting. Blame the league and not SCAR for this. 8 game of ACC is still too much for my taste, now we get an extra. How terrible. This would’ve been a good one, but I’d rather keep playing ND

Once the SEC went to a nine conference schedule, ACC hand was forced, and theyhad to do the same thing. They did it first, and the idea was for the SEC to drastically reduce or eliminate scheduling teams like Miami out of conference.

You can criticize the ACC for a lot of things, this isn’t one of them.

I know that but its better than whatever **** ACC opponent we get now to USCe

Sure it is, but we have to live in the real world. And in the real world that Gamecuck game is being replaced by an ACC opponent. What other choice does the school have? The SEC won’t schedule us and neither will the Big 10.

Auburn is next.

SEC/B1G schedules will evolve, and quickly (I'd quess before end of this season), into SEC v B1G "showdown" game each season for each team + cupcakes + conference slate.

That's it.

This is why the AD & administration need to be on their toes. Who are u gonna play non-conference if the SEC & Big Ten close ranks? They’re obviously trying to minimize & dominate everyone else. So you better have a plan or else find a way to enter their kingdom.

What's even more terrible is the cascade effect this has on the program and the school. We played Notre Dame and Florida at home this year which generated more ticket revenue than we'd get in our conference. It also allowed us to run a 3 hour commercial for the school because gameday came into town.

Look at our home schedule the next few years.

2026: FAMU, Central Michigan, BC, FSU, Pitt, Va Tech
2027: Troy, Cal, GT, Louisville, UVA
2028: USF, Duke, FSU, Stanford, Va Tech

There's a very real possibility that we won't play a ranked team at home for the next 3 years.

We need to get out of this conference. Like tomorrow.

It’s a mess & needs to be skillfully maneuvered. SEC & Big Ten are trying to neuter everyone else. Schedules are gonna be horrible, TV ratings & rankings will suffer, revenue & potentially recruiting. May be relegated to second class unless you get invited to their club.
