Florida Atlantic defensive line coach Lance Thompson is allegedly at the center of South Carolina’s NCAA violation.
ESPN reported Thompson had impermissible off-campus contact with a recruit in May 2018 while he was the Gamecocks’ defensive line coach.

FootballScoop reported Thompson, who also serves as the Owls’ recruiting coordinator, has been disciplined with a one-year show-cause penalty, which requires him to serve a one-game suspension during the 2019 football season.

A source with knowledge of the situation told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that Thompson sat out FAU’s game against Wagner on Sept. 21 as part of the NCAA’s investigation.

Thompson was South Carolina’s assistant head coach for defense and defensive line coach from 2016-18. He was ranked as the No. 1 recruiter in the nation by ESPN in 2014 and the Rivals Recruiter of the Year in 2008.

The NCAA announced Tuesday that South Carolina’s football program will be on probation for one season after the two sides reached a negotiated agreement. South Carolina received a $10,000 fine and can no longer recruit the player, who ESPN identified as defensive lineman Demonte Capehart of IMG Academy.

Thompson worked with FAU coach Lane Kiffin at Tennessee in 2009, and the two of them were assistant coaches at Alabama in 2014.

Bama self reported a level 2 violation of the exact same kind as this one & Saban was able to negotiate NO PUNISHMENT at all, just termination of the assistant lol. (This was a few seasons ago)

It's beyond obvious who runs this sh*t in recruiting, everybody else gets the book thrown at'em, Bama, Clemson, LSU, UGA, TAMU, Oh St etc get a warning & the NCAA just turns a blind eye while sweeping it all under the rug.

What is going to happen.... Mark my words- teams in the SEC will be telling on each other fam. Some of the these little low end SEC teams have former assistants from Bama and LSU pedigrees. I have a feeling that if these assistants are getting caught at different schools is going to build momentum for a snowball effect. These cats been doing these type of things for years and it only takes one gutsy reporter thats has the balls to really invesitgate and is hungry for a ****headline****

That's what i'm thinking, This is his bread and butter RECRUITING and DEFENSE with that punishment may be hard for him to close. He is already trying to out recruit the rival up the road not alone the big boys in his conference.

They already began telling on themselves and nothing happened. Miss St had a player go to the NCAA to snitch on Ole Miss, that made very little news, if it was Bama it wouldn't even come out. Everybody is making WAY too much money to disturb the system

Looks like since attending Clemson Xavier Thomas has owned 3 cars and dad (who has had his share of run ina with law) sold his “car wash business” to a Clemson booster and just bought a pretty sweet home

I keep saying the ncaa and the sec are like a **** crime family. If the feds ever get the whole story the sht will be epic. But that’s a big if.
Bama and LSU are basically untouchable at this point.

What do those schools have in common? Including the Rest of the top recruiting schools.
Nike is another invisible hand behind all of this Sht.
The playoffs are free publicity to these schools. Think about how many potential ambassadors to your brand you have if all those schools
Make the playoffs every year? You think Nike is gonna let under armour sneak into the **** playoffs?
