Sorry for being a "Debbie Downer", but.....

I'm curious to get everyone's opinion...

If Al was somehow terminated at the end of next year, how soon do you guys think it would take the new "competent"(ie Butch) staff to get us back given the current construction of the team?

24-48 hours...just a rough guess

Alabama was down for two decades.

It's not impossible.

So was USC.

FSU was ****** for the past ten years. Their administration didn't just suddenly start caring.

Problem is, those schools were willing to ante up to get it straight. The problem at those schools was never a lack of willingness to spend money. This administration has not and doesn't seem to be in a hurry to do so. For that reason I somewhat agree with the OP. We may never get back.

While I see your point and agree that this admin is a POS, we are getting a new prez. I am holding out hope that we get someone who "gets it". One can dream right?

I loved it, but after the Championship I couldn't watch the Shannon/new Golden era. Wanted to end the night on a high.

Miami can always be back because of the talent rich area.

But it starts with the next president. the biggest thing I take away from the U part 2 is when Donna said THIS ISN'T THE OLD MIAMI. She killed this program.

Hire a top HC, and all this sissified melodrama about being dead forever and all of Highsmith's misdirection shilling about Folden not being the problem will disappear immediately. UM is sitting on a gold mine with no mining equipment.

Good to know we are only half way there before we back...you truly embody a winner attitude

lmao, what the ****? I was just pointing out that other programs have had the same struggles for long periods of times. Including the most successful program of this decade.

Carry on though.

First off, The U Part 2 was great. If you didn't or couldn't watch it, definitely do so during the next couple of days as I'm sure ESPN will show it virtually any opportunity they get.

It was a great reminder of how many times Miami has been down, only to rise above it all and return to the top time and time again. This University has been through some of the most insane scandals, accusations, etc. One of the best quotes from the documentary was from Colin Cowherd when he said something along the lines of "Even when Miami has a scandal they go all out." in regards to the Nevin Shapiro stuff. Miami really does do everything better than any other programs. When we win, we do it better. When we celebrate, we do it better. Even when we have a scandal and get in trouble, we do it better.

Anyways, back to the reason I've posted this. Even after seeing all this, and seeing how many times Miami has bounced back, I can't help but feel like we're finally down for good. Through everything I've personally been through as a Miami fan, these past 8+ years mark the first time I've never really truly had faith that we would "be back". I just can't help but feel like The U is officially dead.

only confirm to me when Shalala got hired she set out to destroy the football program.

Who's the top HC?

Get a good head coach and we return. It's a simple formula. We get the recruits even with a Golden. We just need a coach. The difference between a program like Miami and the other programs who are down(Michigan, Texas) is that with an elite staff, Miami probably goes 11-1 at the very worst this year. At those two schools they don't. They've fallen into deeper holes with the on field talent. They just have administrations that keep trying to get good coaches. Miami does not.

If a Butch Davis came back, we compete for the ACC championship in year one. We're down, we're not out.

It did not used to be if we get a good coach. It was whoever the coach is we still win. Things have changed. Not sure how or what. But a coach did not used to be a problem. Other than jimmy what have any of our past coaches done. Including butch, Ericsson, Coker, and even schnelly. It was just fill the position and we win

Was not trying to be ****ish but I see how it came across. This current **** has us all at each other. Respect

People think you can just get access to a recruiting hotbed. You can't. If you just bring in the right guy you're raping Pitt, VT, UNC, Duke, UVA and winning the coastal in year 1.

You are right. The U is officially dead - unless Butch Davis comes back. He's the only one that could revive the program.

Miami had extraordinary individuals that made it what it is. Schnellenberger, JJ, and Butch were exceptional. That's why Miami could be special.

Anything less than a special coach, and Miami is average at best.

Miami COULD be special at any given time because no other progr is surrounded by this many elite high school players.

Yeah but they all go to FSU. It doesnt Matter because golden cant get the thugs to stay home you jackwagon
