Sometimes it’s not that complicated

Dawson called a great game, we took what they gave us and he was clutch on 3rd by stretching them horizontally every time. Also credit to Beck for getting positive yards when the play broke down.

That first TD… third and short and we go PA to fake the QB sneak to a wide open pass. That’s how you beat a good defense. Broke tendency when we needed to.

I wish we had gone for it on 4th and a foot... when they overturned that 3rd down call.. That’s pretty much only major call I would have changed...

All week I said Beck and receivers had to make plays this week without mistakes . We don’t need heroics but moving the chains and leading. We wasn’t running for 10 ypc like A&M. 4.0 was my magic number to win , run just good enough to move chains. Wear on them . We already knew the defense was keeping them under 20. Which was another prediction lol. “ First to 20 wins “View attachment 349148View attachment 349152

My forecast in the Prediction Thread:

Canes 24-17 -- Actual was 24-14
Beck has 200+ -- Actual was 138
Fletch/Pringle 150 -- Actual was 153
Canes with 3 turnovers Taint 2. -- Actual was 2-1
Canes with 5 sacks Taint 3 -- Actual was 5-2

I was surprised at Beck's passing numbers because his throws were so impactful it felt like the threw for more than he did. Dude was money (19 for 26). Everyone else did what the best team in the nation does -- ball.
Dawson played the chess match we needed him to. We only had 298 yards of total offense. That Taint defense was good but when we needed a play to extend a drive on 3rd down, Dawson delivered.

The only one that sucked was the one that Fletcher fumbles. Fumble aside it was a bad call and it was us keep to our tendencies and that just wasn’t going to work. All through out the game Beck made accurate throws and took what they gave us which was NOT much. Even when plays broke down, he made sure to grab positive yards even when it was only 2-3 with his legs.

There were just very few wasted downs throughout the night. Everything had purpose.

We only had 8 drives (only one 3 and out).

Outside of the last two plays with 45 secs left, OSU only had 3 drives in the 2nd half.

We are built for long drives and this type of playoff format. It's not flashy (which everyone wants in the regular season), but extremely effective when the defense plays this good.

Watching it live and in person this was no upset. Our boys are bigger, built different. Besides smith ohio state looked like slow midgets compared to us and this one could have been a blowout.
Josh Pate had a post game podcast and said the same thing. He talked about how he had said that at the beginning of the season and he got a lot of pushback from OSU people. He doubled down on it last night

Unbelievable night. Actually, unbelievable last 6 games. You never really want to call a loss, or in our case loss-ES, a good thing, but this team’s mindset totally changed after that mid-season meltdown. I remember watching that Florida St. game and being ****ED OFF over how it ended. My family was like, “Who cares? The Canes won!” I just didn’t like it. To me it felt like a bad precedent had been set and bad habits crept in. You can’t ever take your foot off the gas and when you have the chance to break an opponent’s will you do it. Fast forward to current day, and you can tell this team has evolved so much. They’ve evolved into a team, that, literally can win it all.

Didn't expect to run for 10 yards per carry but i absolutely thought we could, should and would run for 200 yards on them and it was our path to victory. The game was pretty short but 150 is great showing. I watch every offensive snap Indiana had v their defense and i was shocked how little penetration their DL had v them. Thats why i wasnt buy this all world stuff and them statistics. They benefited from playing alot of terrible offensive teams. Doesnt mean they are bad just not as good as the stats suggested

So we were dare I say it “efficient”?

What was the crowd split with our fans?

**** what an atmosphere that was, and watching their fans exiting early!

S/O to Coach Beard for having his guys willing to run block consistently and productively.

Every single one of them isn't afraid to get in a DB and **** them up.
