What if Miami got Flowe and Washington? What does that change ? We’ve already had big time tight ends and linebackers and we still sucked. We need top lineman and speed.

We need a qb and capable coaches. Not a bunch of slapdicks for coaches. Then add on about 80 other things.

Brevin s been real good but would blow up with better play calling. Flowe I think would add more of an impact, turnovers, coverage game changing plays, where our current big time LBs are great tackles but aren’t making the electric plays.

Stacking the chips is always the best way

We need nasty MOFOs who absolutely hate to lose. Id kill for a couple of Al Blades right now (love JR, but talking about Pops here), but guys like that maybe a thing of the past with the internet generation. Everyone wants to be friends off the field and during the game it seems like.

Not a whole lot.

Players need to be developed and coached properly to really be successful.

Don't think guys like Ed Reed or Vilma would've been anywhere near as good if they were coached by this staff, as an example.

And on the other side, all those talented players we got from Northwestern HS in Randy's first year (Forston, Streeter, Washington...) would've probably turned out much better under a Butch staff.

All the players leaving early for the NFL probably wouldn't happen quite as often with a solid staff - because would be winning most of the games, too.

Still hope we get the 2 you mentioned, but a very long shot in both cases I'd think.

No one knows anything. If history repeats itself we will be either in the portal or flipping 3 stars in January. If manny is good enough to get Flowe and Washington (doubtful) what makes you think he stopped there? I mean if we’re able to get two number 1 players at their position what makes you think there aren’t any other dudes lined up.
But let’s say this class is the unicorn everyone is hoping it is that would make our team have a lot of 5 star talent. Lo, Chaney, Phillips, Bubba, Flowe Washington, and just because they should’ve been Mallory and Jordan. And just for shts and giggles martell. The big problems is we don’t have 5 stars in he trenches and at db. We also have a huge number of early enrollees that helps a lot with practice and competition and preparation.
Now all we need is a brand new offensive philosophy.
That’s a lot of if’s.

We need a lights out QB like the old days. Wtf. I fear van dyke plays two games and we are back to, “next” with an 🙄. Why can’t we have nice things?

Not always just the # of stars, but the development and coaching and leadership (by the staff), etc. We seem to definitely be lacking in these areas.

You may (or may not) already know that one of our very best OL (McKinnie, Haji-Rasoulli, Romberg, Bibla and Gonzalez) only had 1 who was highly-rated: Bibla - probably a 5-star, but they didn't use the star system back then.

And Rumph was the only starting DB on that same '01 championship team who was highly-rated (about a 4-star in today's ratings). Reed, Lewis and Buchanon were rated lower.

We obviously lost to a lot of teams this year who had less talent than us - at ALL the position groups (except for kicker, of course).

Nope it was the war daddy type dlinemen that made UM great, QB's are a nice to have but the big boi's are must have.

Case in point 2020 DT Tim Smith (who is going to Bama and Jalen Carter who is going to UGA). If UM signs these two DL's then Justin Flowe would committed to UM month's ago

It means Manny is an elite recruiter, and it means we will likely have real difference makers at two spots.

There is no evidence to suggest Diaz is an elite recruiter. The last 4 years, he and his friends have a strong history of misses and decommits like no other staff. We aren’t getting these guys.

The premise of the oP is we get the top LB and top TE in the nation, both from far away. That won’t happen, imo. But it it does, we should acknowledge credit to Manny.

Credit to Manny, but it changes nothing. Until we put a decent product on the field literally nothing matters.

We had a huge talent gap in the Duke, GT and FIU games and still got embarrassed. I don't see how getting more talent helps our issues. The issue is with the head coach.

Flowe ain't coming, but he brings speed at LB, which would take our defense to another level
