Something smells at STA

This '27 class is loaded and it looks like we won't get a single commit. Miami goes to the Nat'l Champ, beats aTm and OSU on the way and we fail to land a single recruit from our hometown football factory. Sure it's well know Harriott is tight with Freeman, but JT is on staff and Twan is the AD over there too? Something just isn't adding up.

All a faie question

But I believe only 2, maybe 3 could commit?

Jones- did we push?
Gamble- wanted
MAtthews- obviously one of top overall targets

Not sure if Carey can commit to UM and JT just doesn’t seem to want Smith. Howard and the wrs we don’t seem interested.

Harriot dislikes Miami and has been before his days at STA.

As long as he’s there we will struggle with top STA kids
This is not true. Again, we currently have five STA players on our roster which is tied for the most outta any high school alongside American Heritage. It is no coincidence that we have former coaches of both schools working on our staff in Rumph and Taylor. The AD & LB coach is Twan Russell — a Miami alum.

Back to roger harriot; he left u school for FAU then went to STA. At his first year at STA, Sam Bruce transferred from U school to STA then signed with Miami. That same class, we signed Michael Irvin II at TE from STA. The next class, we signed Mike Harley. The next class, we signed Al Blades Jr. The next class, we signed Avery Huff.

U School had three blue chippers in the 2013 class. Miami only wanted DT/OL Quay Bain; who was committed to FSU. Quay got OU & LSU interest after decommitting from FSU. He primarily played OG in HS as a senior but was adamant on wanting to play DLine in college. Miami cooled on him and he went to LSU. Jordan Cunningham, WR, was his best friend and badly wanted to play at Miami. They wanted to go there together. Cunningham didn’t have a committable offer however we continually had him at all of our games despite planning not to take his commitment.

We were all-in on Stacy Coley as our only HS WR signee; which is why we were late to the party on Eddie Jackson because they never inquired/projected about his DB abilities at the next level because he was a 2way guy seen as a WR first. The staff was counting on Angelo Jean Louis as a prep spring enrollee on standpoint yet we know he never qualified.

Back to U school. Late in that cycle, Miami decided to offer LB Skai Moore who they ignored and said wasn’t good enough for a long time. After Skai saw how we did his two teammates + himself, he went to South Carolina.

Our staff was extremely selective with taking South Florida commits; yet, post every NSD, Miami would end up taking players after being too optimistic about the HS+JUCO recruits we were after.

In the previous class, we passed on two U School 2012 prospects, who signed with non-p5 schools, who would go on to get drafted in the late rounds of the NFL: WR Daniel Braverman and QB Mike White.

I know the lies will be repeated but this is for any board members that care to know. . . . .

Bro. Wow. Your level of recall (or incredibly believable horse puckey) is amazing. I didn’t fact check it because I’m not sure all the AI in the world could do the research you provided in a timely manner.

In all seriousness, did all that come off the top of your head? To quote Darth Vader…. Most impressive.

I said top kids. Irvin 2, Harley, Huff, Blades, etc… are not top kids.

Yea DJ and MM are the ones I think we need and will try, its basically a Bain and Sisi situation to start for three years then you can fill depth and an elite DT
I don’t believe Mathews has unlimited price tag for us either . We prob should put the money into dl ,de this class . Mathew starts being a biding war we’re out .You can’t pay him more than cantwell.

Haha, i had to google a few timeline tidbits however the vast majority of it did.

i appreciate the compliment however i should qualify it. First, i would start to write articles for this website around 2013/2014. Second, i went to an adjacent school of U School & played quay Bain in basketball. Started following recruiting and Hurricane football more seriously at the time. Had a lot of good friends at U School so i knew more, and talked about it more, than most.

I’ve had friends play for Rumph and friends Miami wanted or didn’t want so i was too familiar with some of the frustrating dynamics of the Golden era; and know some backstories on the unfair criticism, from my POV, Rumph got while working here.

I used to watch a lot of **** in the mid 80’s - you know, the pre-shaven days. If I can ever return the knowledge favor by spotting the difference between Amber Lynn and Ginger Lynn, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Devon Betty- starter
Marlon Martinez-starter
Marcus rosemy-starter for Georgia
Quincy skinner starter
Braylon wood starter
Tyrek sapp starter
Dallas turner all American NFL 1 rd
Blake stern starter
Anthony Hankerson rushed twice over 1k yards for osu
Mason taylor NFL 2 rd pick
Camden brown starter over 1 k yards receiving sr year
Jason Hammond starter
Kimari Robinson 2 year starter
Conrad hussey starter at fsu know at Miami
King Mack starter for psu know at nc state
Nicholas Rodriguez starter
Romanas Frédérique 2 yr starter at Miami
Jordan Lyle started the first game of the season this year

Stop the Cap with saying only 3 or 4 good players I counted over 18 college starters in 4 classes for a high school team. Do better research before hating on south Florida players

This board has short term memory lol. Chance Robinson was highly rated and came here

Its always top sfla players don’t want to come here but crickets when our best players are from sfla lol. Where is bain,fletch,toney,moten,oj/lucas,fitz from?

At least when we losing, I could understand it. It’s odd to feel like people gave Al Golden more faith circa 2012/2013 than Mario currently.

Our coaches aren’t driving around with the Russell Athletic Bowl Trophy anymore yet fans act like we’re recruiting at a Russell Athletic Bowl level.

It’s odd for people to STILL treat the star system as an indisputable fortune given to a program. Like, people act deaf and blind to fact that Ahmad Moten’s older brother was ranked higher than him. Or that we are headed into year 4 of our defensive backfield being led and littered with skill stars from STA and Heritage.

Given the disasters with Quincy + Marco Wilson & Earl Little Jr; the board should appreciate having highly recruited legacies Camden Portis and Ryan Mack on the roster rn. Instead, they discount everyone who isn’t top 50 composite.

Josh Moore, Daylyn Upshaw and Malachi Toney literally got Ny Carr, Jojo Trader, and Chance Robinson outta the paint. The latter 3 were older and ranked higher. The 3 still on our roster right now also played the role in getting Ray-Ray outta here; who stuck around for a year longer than Robby Washington —> both of whom were heavily recruited prospects.

Yet since the soph 3 don’t have 5 stars next to their name (even if they did, they don’t seem to care for Lennear….), it’s like we won those recruitments without putting in any effort to them.

We had 4 guys in one class from STA come here in 2024. I think we are ok at the school this ain’t a Dwyer situation.
