Something I noticed about kick-offs

It seemed like there was a deliberate attempt to make L'ville return KO's in the second half. At one point he dropped a few in almost the exact same location, seemed intentional...man, I need a life...

Yes and instead of fair catching it their KO returner decided to go. Worked out nicely. Before that we were kicking touchback after touchback. Worked out very well for us. On a lighter note, you will note that Pope fair caught one in play.

I thought his leg was getting tired from all prior booming kicks. Haha

Speaking of kickoffs, I swore I saw Pope fair catch a return at our own 3 yard line in the first half. But after commercial break we lined up as if it was a touchback. Anybody else see that?
I saw lol. I said wtf why not let it just bounce into endzone

I also was like WTF? I had to look it up. Rule in place since last year, any fair catch on a KO from 25 yard line in moves to the 25. I dont think we’ve ever done it. Kudos to Pope for knowing the rule. Lol.

Nah good catch because you’re right. Coverage team was so good we wanted to pin them deep instead of gifting them the touchback.

When you have a quality All -American type kicker he can be such a weapon in many ways.
Glad he is on our team and hope he returns next year too.

That would interesting, his brother signs and then sits behind his brother for a year, can't say I've ever heard of that happening.

Balls (if it goes end over end) can take funny bounces. Unlike punts, it's a free ball.

Bowden used to have the kicker sky one to around the 20 yard line. Since the guy lined up there usually doesn't handle kicks, he hopes he panics and doesn't call a fair catch. If he doesn't call one, it's just like a long onside kick and he can be hit. I've seen them recover a couple of them deep on the other side of the field.

Which brings me to the next question, couldn't we have fielded the onside kick prior to it going 10yds on the one they recovered, It was always my understanding that only the kicking team couldn't make contact until after ten.
