Obviously this years class we may be bringing in 3 maybe even 4 top backs. We're thin at the position with Duke most likely gone after this year leaving us really only with Gus and Yearby as our backs. Gus will also be going into his junior year in 2016.

I know a lot of teams are trying to sell these kids on playing early and often and the concept of them being "the man" at RB but if these kids are smart, going into a loaded backfield with 2/3 guys of similar talent level is easily the smartest decision you could make if you're as good as most of these kids.

If you're a good enough talent you will get snaps, especially in an offense where we'll still have a young QB regardless of who starts in 2016. Why not go into a backfield with 2 other good players where you'll all get snaps and reduce the wear and tear on your body by a significant margin as opposed to being the guy where you're carrying the ball 20+ times a game over 3 years? Your NFL shelf life will be way better than most other backs which is going to result in you being picked higher assuming your production is good with the touches you'll get and you'll be a better college back because you'll most likely always be fresh.

Just a thought when it comes to the RB position because a lot of these kids are always looking toward the NFL even as seniors in HS.

Solid reasoning. What we have to remember is RBs all are looking at only 3 years and done. Rare that good one will stay 4. They have such limited time in NFL because age gets RBs sooner and more drastic than other positions. So Joe is gone in three too, leaving lot of PT for this years 3 or 4. NFL watches everything. You can count of Duke making splash in NFL. He is total package and will draw attention back to THE U as a home for NFL RBs. All these young guns will get the look from NFL they want and without their tire treads being burnt off like at Bama, UGA, or the other SEC schools. None of our backs won a Heisman, but the good ones had very long careers going back to OJ and that a rarity in NFL. Couple years of extra fame in college or 3 to 5 extra years of big paydays in life. Not really a hard choice at all.
