Someone smarter than me needs to explain

You don't always get the 1on1 versus a corner but that's the idea. And if you get the 1on1 and the CB makes a great tackle, so be it, Applause for him. But we don't believe he'll be able to make that play consistently for 4 Quarters, The D will have to adjust and pick their poison. Either move a man out of the box and give up 5-7yds a carry, or risk your corner blowing a tackle and we break a big gain.

I'd rather spread them out, get DB's out of the play, increase space and reduce the # of blocks that need to be executed.

I feel you. I think it's also relative to our blocking scheme, which looks something like Man2Man Power ( I'm not an oline guy i played receiver & DB). Look at the body types that Mario & Mirabal are recruiting, mostly 6'5 325lb Behemoths.

The wide line splits & spread sets require zone blocking am i right? That usually requires smaller more agile linemen that can move well side to side.
