Someone asked me today "Do You Think They Have a Chance?"

It's almost like people are being baited into betting the house on Indiana.

They beat Iowa by 5 (tied with 1:30 left)
They beat PSU by 3 (needed a GW drive)
They beat OSU by 3 (Needed a 21 yard FG miss)

Their OOC schedule is a joke, TrumpyCane wants to know why people think they're one of the greatest teams ever

Bama shouldn't have even been in the playoffs, they were destroyed BY UGA, they were down 17-0 against OU, etc

The 2001 Miami Hurricanes beat 4 Top-14 teams by 21 points or more.
This has never been accomplished in the history of Indiana football.

All 4 teams were ranked #19 or higher in the final CFB poll.

See what I can do with numbers?
This was also back when the AP polls tried to actually rank the Top 25 accurately as opposed to ranking teams based on what conference patch is sewn into their jersey. Or is he referring to these 2 playoff teams? I mean I suppose they’re in the top 10 because they’re in the CFP but that’s not really an accurate statistic. James Madison and Tulane weren’t top 12 teams despite making the playoffs. A Cinderella basketball team who makes it to the Final 4 in a field of 68 isn’t the 4th best team in college basketball. Not really how it works.

Also side note, is that statistic true at all? It doesn’t seem like it. What Top 10 team did Indiana beat by 30+ points in the regular season?

Illinois :ROFLMAO:
That's what I meant by playing with the numbers.

The 'Canes 2001 team's 4 victories by 21+ were by 4 teams that FINISHED in the top 19.

All this Indiana crap is recency bias on steroids.
They're really good, but holy ****, does anyone remember their OSU game 1 month (3 games) ago??

I just got told by the same guy (he's completely serious) that we will lose 27-10 if not worse and that Oregon would beat us. Oregon...would beat us...and he's serious....

Sober Indiana fans before the Rose Bowl (let alone Peach Bowl) spoke about the prospect of a Miami team that handled Ohio getting out of that bracket in hushed tones.

Cignetti, Haines, and Shanahan know this will be a war.

I heard Cignetti's opening remarks in a presser talk about the game and I could sense in his tone that he is expecting what you just said. It didn't seem like the normal fluff stuff.

All I am hearing here in SC is how Indiana is going to beat us. Then I get the Clemson fans saying that they are pulling for us because, you know, ACC. (I have never understood pulling for a conference.)

It’s comical at this point, the whole world thinking Indiana is some world beater. D made a great comparison of Florida vs. OSU in the 06 title game. Everyone and their momma said Florida had zero chance of winning that game. I hate Florida, but they ***** slapped osu that game. We are the superior team with superior talent. We will beat Indiana. Each week it’s a new story about how this team is going to blow out Miami. We were not supposed to get beat in every game of the playoffs according to everyone else, but we were going to get blown out.

This game is no different than the previous 3 games we won. Championship #6 will be won for the mighty Hurricanes on Jan. 19th, 2026
