With that QB and how their front plays Which they built heavily and invested in.. They will be a problem for any and every team..

I mean they are a good team and they were good last year. I still think the defense is suspect and that’s why they always end up in shootouts
 
I don’t think Ole Miss is the best team, but they absolutely be #1 right now. Never thought I’d root for them, but Lane is an uber-douchebag.

I was watching the NC State disaster. Couldn’t believe what I saw. The post game reactions on YT are gold.

UGA is going to gas can OU next week. Brent Vunerables seat going to get real hot.

Kelly Jennings and Marcel Reed are the same QB. Very talented, and can make spectacular plays, but guaranteed to turn the ball over.
 
Florida hiring Buster Faulkner at OC was a big time hire imo. With the talent they have at the skill positions, they looked pretty darn good last night.

Even with all those portal transfers, Texas still doesn't look amazing and neither does Arch.

Georgia is just consistent and they look like a legit CFP contender.
 
At least a half dozen teams bunched near the elite level, all capable of beating one another. Injuries & roster development will be key to how it plays out. Miami is already impacted by injuries. Saw Ole Miss RB & LSU TE leave the game last night. LSU QB will be lucky to survive the season.
In the ACC, VT is probably further long than anticipated. Give credit to Manny for how Duke is playing. Doeren is toast at NC State, though his junior QB’s brain fart did him no favors. Belichick also ready to check out. Could be multiple ACC job openings at season’s end.

LSU TE is a monster loss.

Ole Miss RB is obviously a big loss but the guy behind him isnt 5 inches shorter with T Rex arms like the 2nd string LSU TE.
 
This upcoming week will be very intriguing. Oklahoma (v Georgia), Oregon (v USC) Texas A&M, and LSU in dare I say “elimination” games. Missouri @ Mississippi St could be great. And can Arch solve his road woes in hot Neyland Stadium against Tennessee with a freshman QB. Ole Miss with a dangerous trip to Florida. Iowa and Michigan could be a bar fight.

- NCState with a heart-breaking loss and Im not sure that Dave Doeren or CJ Bailey can overcome it. This enters the pantheon of Joe Pisarcik and Mario Cristobal and Miami not taking the victory formation knee vs GaTech a few years ago.

On that last play from scrimmage, Im not sure what Bailey was thinking. On those type of plays quarterbacks or punters are generally told to run to the far corner pylon and then get out of bounds as defenders get close. Bailey turned into defenders for some reason and then fumbled, which was recovered by Vandy for the game winning points.

It's one thing to blow a lead, it's another to lose a game like this.

- Look out for Louisville and Lincoln Keinholz, who outlasted SMU, 41-31 in an ACC shootout. But the Cards Brown Bros (Isaac and Keyjuan) run game was the story, they accounted for 230 combined rushing yards on just 20 carries. SMU moved the ball well, too, but they simply did not play a clean enough game. Brian Brohm has as good an offense as he's ever had.

SMU will still be a threat in the ACC title race. Kevin Jennings is a highly productive and exciting QB, but there's always a play or two that keep him from being truly elite. Ball security is an issue.

- I am officially worried about the USC Trojans defense. And once again, a Lincoln Riley coached tem struggles on the road in an east coast Big Ten game (still strange to type this out). Rutgers is a bad team, but on this afternoon in Jersey, Dylan Lonergan played fairly well, but his pick-six to Prophet Brown in the 3rd quarter as RU was about to take the lead was really the difference in the game.

But again, I kept thinking that the points USC had given up early this season was the result of playing young guys late in blowouts. This wasn't the case today. Rutgers actually had more first downs (27 to 24) and Rutgers had 460 total yards to 461 for USC. Next week, Oregon comes into the Coliseum after they survived 42-35 in New Brunswick.

- Huge early win for Will Stein and Kentucky, who went into Kyle Field and out-played Texas A@M. Kenny Minchey played a solid, steady game behind center in leading the Wildcats to a convincing 31-21 win. Meanwhile, I think Marcell Reed is facing some heat from the Aggie fan base, even after leading them to a playoff birth last year. From what I saw, the heavy losses on both sides of the line of scrimmage have been a problem for Mike Elko. Regardless, he hasn't been accurate or protected the ball well enough.

- Weather delays were an issue in the Bama-FSU game, first it caused a 90 minute delay, and then another one right before half. Hard to say who it impacted more, but the Noles jumped out to a 21-6 lead, and they came out firing. Mike Norvell had his guys ready to play. It will be interesting to see if the Noles can play with this type of intensity again this season.

But it was the overall speed and talent of the Tide that took over. I'll say it right now, Keelon Russell is as athletically talented as any Alabama quarterback this century. He's a long, springy athlete with a live arm. This is a young superstar-to-be. I'm sure there will be some growing pains during SEC league play, but there's a reason why Kalen DeBoer hitched his wagon to this young man.

As for FSU, as well as they did offensively, once again the Tony White defense got gashed. They've given up over 1,200 total yards in two games vs SMU and Bama. Where have you gone Mickey Andrews?

- It was the story of two quarterbacks in Miss St-South Carolina. The Gamecocks jumped the Bulldogs early, building an early 16-0 lead, but over time it was MSU that just took over. Kemario Taylor kept getting better throughout this game (18 for 26, 251 yards and 4 TD's). The Bulldogs just kept gaining confidence as this game went on, while Lenorris Sellers shows that he's still a better athlete than quarterback. He still really struggles with intermediate throws. His two picks were key in the MSU turn around.

I get Steve McNair vibes with Taylor.

- Overall, I think as of now, UGA is the best team in college football. They cruised to a 45-17 win over a depressed Arkansas program. Steve Atwater and Barry Foster ain't walking through that door.

- Finally, one of the best games this weekend took place on Friday night between Texas Tech and Houston in Lubbock. The Red Raiders squeaked by 28-26 as Conor Weigman came up just inches short on a late 2-point conversion. But Houston was right with Tech, in fact they had more first downs (27-22) and yards (458 to 424).

The gap between TT and the rest of the Big12 isn't nearly as big as it was last season. As for the Coogs, they will continue to be a factor in this league moving forward.

Appreciate the writeup but very SEC biased. There were a lot of other interesting games going on. But if you want to focus on that fading conference, my take is that most of the SEC teams looked pedestrian yesterday. FSU scared Bama. TAMU played soft and lost to what would be a mid-ACC team if they played on our conferenec. The Mateer machine at Oklahoma is a lemon. Georgia hasn't played anyone with a pulse. NC State literally gave the game away. I could not believe my eyes, it was definitely worse than the Ga Tech fumble.

Meanwhile around footballville, I thought the SMU v Louisville game was amazing. Some great plays and hard hits. Notre Dame didn't look any better than us, especially in the first half, and they were playing against a much weaker opponent than Wake in Michigan State. CJ Carr is as overhyped as that Penn State QB from last year. Teams have figured him out. Two games I missed that I'd be interested in hearing opinions on were UVA losing to WVU and Texas Tech in a nailbiter with Houston. Is Houston finally emerging? Would be awesome as they'd take talent away from LSU and other SEC schools nearby if they became a serious program.

Agree, I think Georgia is going to embarrass them

He wasn’t getting talked about as a hot seat candidate but all it took was one look at that schedule. They CANT run the ball, and Mateer is trash. They won a bunch of close games last year to make the playoff.

They might lose 5 or 6 games this year.
