Some thoughts on the Clemson game...

To me, one of the most impressive things about that game was seeing so many different players grow into their roles and play some of their best football to date. The punter, the kicker, linebackers, defensive ends, running backs, wide receivers o line, at almost every position you had a guy that had his best game of the year.
That’s not to say everyone was perfect. It’s just to say the continuous improvement lends itself to a bright future.
Agreed. I think we all expected a guy like Ben Congdon to play well, given everything we heard out of spring & fall camp, but we saw guys like Ryan Mack contribute, Third Scroggins continuing to flash, Keona Davis played well, then you add Chase Smith with a lights out performance, Ryan Rodriguez playing a helluva game, and Matt McCoy & Max Buchanan battling thru injuries to contribute to big win. There was real growth and responding to adveristy last night.

eveything!! That's what!! everything!!

I think Dawson is a solid OC, but it's telling he's never really been seriously considered for HC jobs.

He tends to completely lose the pulse of the game every week at some point in the middle of the game.

He's seriously, seriously benefitted from the talent Cristobal has acquired - it makes him look much more competent than he actually is.
Dude has had a top 20 O the last three years and apparently had nothing to do with it. You can’t make this crap up. Plenty of good coaches never got a HC spot, while complete idiots have gotten jobs, that isn’t indicative of anything other than Dawson not having great interview skills, or being picky about the job he takes.

Their DJ was a million times better than ours and so was their team intro. We really are lacking in that department.

Other than that, place is a Children of the Corn ****hole. Their fans are nice, but nice in that cult recruiter kinda way.
UM needs to absolutely abandon this new DJ’s thing with the go canes go canes it does not work and so ridiculously stupid. Just play more hype music.

I am not usually one to complain about the announcers… but Fowler/Herbstreit and the entire broadcast last night was awful.

Mistakenly showing a graphic with Clemson’s QB when they were intending to introduce Mensah.

Herbstreit multiple times indicating that Mendoza was on UM last season.

Fowler being off on multiple ball spots, including the stuffed 4th and short play by UM’s defense that was obviously short (Fowler claiming that it looked “close”).

Herbstreit thinking that was a Mensah fumble, when clearly his arm was moving forward with the ball still in his control.

And both Fowler/Herbstreit clearly rooting for Clemson to make it a close game.

Just stop it.

One wrong graphic...those are the guys in the truck.

The 4th and short WAS close when the guy stretched the ball out. Nobody knows for sure where a ref will spot the ball or what the replay will show.

Herbstreit thinking it was a fumble? That's what the refs were calling. That's what the stadium thought. Fireworks went off. And it took the great precision of the replay in slow-mo to show that the DL actually never made contact with the ball, only with the arm, and that the push of the forward motion of the ball became wobbly as a result.

Herbstreit is clearly a Miami fan. Any comments made on behalf of Clemson are due to their past accomplishments and the home crowd. Nobody from the TV broadcast side wants to see a blowout in prime-time, particularly when viewers could switch the channel to the baseball playoffs.

As a fanbase we clearly have a love hate relationship with Herbie, but his comments about what Mario has built and the Saban/Alabama references were pretty telling of his true feelings.
Miami went there and flashed LY playoff style football and he saw it.
If we can get healthy we’re gonna take some folks lunch money.

Mario is a big boy coach, and while it took him some time to clear the dead wood and decades of rot, we now have a program that we can be proud of, one that can compete on the biggest stages. We LOOK like a legit program now, no false bravado needed. Notice that Mario has rarely talked about "Swag", because he knows that true confidence comes from knowing that you are better than the teams you play, because you are better coached and outworked them before kickoff.

I'm still trying to figure out where the illegal shift took place.
Re watching the game again now... barkate and Jacobs were both set with 5 seconds on the playclock... ball snapped with 3. It was close but they missed the call

Shout out to our fans showing up too. You could hear it on the broadcast. Y'all did your thing.

I’m mad I couldn’t make it. I’ve had this game circled since it was released, but had to sell my tickets due to surgery on Wednesday. Wish I could have been there to show out with you all. I’m cancer free now though so it was worth it.

@JHallCanes, did you make the game? I know there are a few more of us on here that live in SC.
Great crowd and was so happy the rain held off. Also, Clemson fans are great people and it's a great college town gameday experience, if you get the chance I highly recommend getting there for the next Miami game
