Some things I worry about....

Vegas win-loss lines are made to induce maximum balanced action, not necessarily to predict how many games we'll drop in a season.

I don't know where that balanced action myth came from or why it persists, but it's not true.

Some are. Believe me I'm hoping for much more but I think an 8-9 win season is acceptable for one's first year at the helm. A noticeable increase in grit and toughness both mentally and physically will be signs we're headed in the right direction. One thing I truly hope not to see is us leaving points on the field. There's been way too much of that these last several seasons.
 
OP about O-line. One thing that stood out to me from all the Media days, is the coaches that talked about how good their O-lines are, all have pretty **** good teams, some the best in the country.

Now I'm not sold on Oregon having the best in the country like one ESPN guy says: They always have to quota out praise to the underachieving PAC 12. But Georgia, Clemson, Auburn will be able to do an awful lot because of their O-lines.

Maybe ours develops, maybe it doesn't (I believe it will be better than 18). But, there is just no getting around it, if you're able to make a defense have to respect the run, a very good QB can become a great one.

3. LB position we are a little thin, however, I do think we can move 1-2 guys around and give them reps to suffice. Hopefully the boys hurt (at least one of them) can get back in time to help us by Gayturd time or the freshmen Brooks can kick tail. Hope to be alright, but one injury away from being in "oh ****" mode.
That is it. Opinions welcome. One other thing I worry about, will my drinkin' this year be because the season is fun or to drown my sorrows?

Well, we sure don't want you to worry.

Just having a punter than can get it past the line of scrimmage will win two more games.

Having more than four offensive plays will win another couple games.

Having a QB who can hit the side of a barn - from the inside - will win another game or two.

So when you go to bed tonight - hug your teddy bear tight - and assure him that last year's nightmare was just a bad dream.

Forgot one of the most important sources of comfort and optimism going into the season.
We have an OC who is highly regarded as a great coach and is a QB whisperer.
That could wins us more games than anything as long as the other two phases also come to play.

Are we expecting too much from Manny? Yes. Banners will fly next season if we don't get coastal and 10 wins.

Was Manny's defense dominant? Not against good teams.

Recruiting? Average.

An 8 or 9 Win season is absolutely NOT acceptable considering the talent and schedule UM has...Anyone who thinks anything less than 10 Wins in the ACC Coastal is A-Okay this yr, must be Okay with Mediocrity.

Like I mentioned above, Vegas has us at 8.5 regular season wins. To me, 8 would mean we failed on the field. But I'd be happy with 9 and a bowl win, subject to the below caveat:

Obviously, not all wins and losses are created equal. If we win 9 regular season games but - God forbid - got stomped by the Gaytors and F$U, that's unquestionably a failure. But if we win 9 games, lose a close bowl game to a strong team, and blowout the Gaytors and F$U I think that's something most of us would sign up for right now. Not even Saban or Dabo won 10 games their first season at Bama or Clemson.

Wins and losses will come and go BUT playing like Hurricanes and letting the chips fall where they may is what the CANE THING is. 60 minutes with nothing left in the tank, energy every play, never giving up, and if the other team is better or the officials ***** us..we still will love our Canes. Methinks Diaz gets it.
 
I believe El Jefe fully is aware of the blowback if we don’t win 9-10 games this season, given as others have pointed out already, the horrific schedule we play in 2019. I think Enos will have the starting QB ready to go Game 1 versus the hated Gayturd, and I feel we shock the football nation right out of the gate. It’s the success early that concerns me this year, and that the boys will start believing the hype because once we beat UFag and crush UNC plus the twin cupcakes, we could very well find our team in the midst of the Top 10. Then what? Here we go again and subsequent losses in ACC play? Or will Manolo maintain his edge and ability to keep the kids laser focused? If he can do the latter, ***** 8.5 wins, we’re looking at 11-1 and a Top 10 showdown (maybe Top 5) versus Clemson for all the marbles.
