Here are the preliminary heat times from the Lou Bing Classic track meet...I will post the finals when available..some people did not make the finals so their preliminary heat times are the best so far for this year as this was the first meet for most. Some were a little surprisingly "slow" but it is very early in the year.

120 entries in 100m and 112 entries in 200m

If run into a head wind I used the formula for headwinds at 100m and 200m which approximates times with no head wind. Will put the adjusted speed in (...)

Anthony Schwartz……… 11….. American Heritage MS/HS (Plantation) .…...100m--10.62(10.47) -2.1

Plays a lot faster than that. Did well vs some pretty good dbs today. He was open a lot.... Dee Wiggins ain't no small kid either he's a legit 6'3.5

For a 6-2/190 CB...Campbell has the size and speed we really need. Blades 23 second 220 I heard was partially the result of a poor lane draw and this his first season running HS track. look for him to be around 22 at the end of the season. Wiggins time is probably an aberration as he was an official 11.8 guy as a freshman. Lets see his times after this first meet as the season progresses. Abdullah last year at Miramar was a 10.80 guy so he was way off in this meet with 11.41.

Some of those numbers could be misleading in a meet of this magnitude, especially this early ( as you already mentioned)...falling behind in a heat with kids running mid 10s can easily cause you to let off the gas down the stretch without realizing it....especially kids like Wiggins new to track...I still think he needs to at least be in the 11.2 range to be Miami caliber...or run a 4.5 /4.6 at the opening..... 4.5 40 Kids like Bandy and Harley play fast on the field with superior quickness and elite change of direction. Swartz ran a 4.47 with a similar shuttle time...The difference is...this kid has a insane 3rd gear on the track...Cambell and Bethel were also impressive at this event..I'm more of a film and combine guy when it comes to football tho..

Poor time for Wiggins. That's Dingle-esque....hope he gets better as season goes on.

Wiggins ran a 4.64 yesterday at the Opening in Orlando which is not really a bad time for him. He can easily get that under 4.6 with training. He's also two inches taller than Dingle.

As DMoney pointed out to me yesterday, Travis Benjamin and Mike Harley were running 4.5 at this point of their HS careers.

Wow!

Saw this on the letsrun.com forum:

Totally ridiculous on so many levels.

1) How does a HSer run that fast as a sophomore.

2) How does he get DQd?

Here's how.

From Dyestat.

"Additionally, Cooper ran would might have gone down as an all-time sophomore record in the 200 meters when he ran 20.44 seconds. But he was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct when he raised his hands and made a 'W' with his fingers. The time that came up on the scoreboard, however, would have moved him to No. 8 on the all-time list. "
