That's what this thread is about?

I think that's where I made my mistake. The thread title is "Some names to watch before it’s deleted". At no point does it mention OC or DC, I just assumed and that's on me. Turns out it as names of pro-wrestlers, which I was a huge fan of in the late 70's to the 90's. So random wrestling name. The Mulkey brothers, greatest tag-team ever!

I'm going to submit a name for consideration that I know the betas on this board won't like, "he's a bad guy", "he'll never take the job", "why would he take a demotion", "he doesn't fit Mario's culture", and whatever other BS cliches they wanna throw in.

Before I say the name, consider the following:

- This guy has always been a brilliant offensive mind
- He originally rose the ranks pretty quickly and parlayed that into an NFL Head Coach position. He didn't work out as an NFL HC but that fact has ZERO correlation as to how good a COLLEGE OC he is and could be.
- He's been humbled, and you can argue he's now on the downside of his career. He's still currently a head coach, but it's at a smaller program and it appears his days as a HC at big time programs are over. His profile fits exactly with the type of former HC that would consider a move down to coordinator, but at a much bigger program in the mainsteam spotlight.

That name, and the guy that would have been my FIRST phone call.........is Bobby Petrino.

His offense would absolutely kill it here. Shallow crosses and vertical shots which is what I've been yelling for on these boards for over 20 years.

Neg away. I know there is little chance they are actually looking at him, but I still maintain he would be a great hire as an OC.
I’m all about second, third, or more chances. He’s been a clown, but nothing criminal that I can recall. If he has been humbled and willing he might be a great OC. And, if successful here he just might stay for awhile. Others we’ve mentioned, even Dorsey, might be one or two and done, moving on to HC or NFL jobs.

From his comments, Mario is all about the coach on AND off the field. Is the candidate a quality person? Hopefully, if somehow Petrino was considered, past issues are just that, past issues, and if no longer part of Petrino’s character would not be a problem.

So we hold the players to a standard and the head coach but not the coordinators?

Okay... makes no sense but okay...

Welcome to earth. Life and football are a stage full of hypocrisy.

I'll say it again, this guy is STILL employed as a HC somewhere. Why on earth is it crazy to say taking a demotion, to a bigger program, isn't something that could eventually happen for/to him?

This is a message board and we're passing the time. Not every position on staff needs to be a priest. We've already got a terrific face and front man in Mario...would be good to surround him with specialists who can play chess on gameday and help him win more games. Winning more games drives recruiting to an even higher level. BP can help you WIN GAMES.

Funny, after Cribby saying Miami had no interest in Kiffin because of his issues, some continue to bring up other guys just as shady and even more than him.

We need an announcement to get back to some reality.
I’m guessing you don’t like talking about wrestling and the different ways to kill feral hog?

Has nothing to do with a priest, but a program cant preach accountability and then hire Petrino.

I appreciate your intent in trying to extent this tho.

HE'D BE THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR.

I guarantee you that EVERY program in America, no matter how holy the head coach appears on camera, houses employees and staff members that have their share of skeletons in the closet.

He who lives in glass houses shouldn't cast stones. This guy isn't a murderer or some hate driven racist. He's a **** raiser who likes to party but is a **** good offensive coordinator. Period.

I dont care, coordinators should be held to an equally high standard. Thats my opinion, accept it or leave it.
