I would have to hope Mario had a list of candidates and offered his final choice. Now back to the list.

Do you forget that we had the AD of f’ing New Mexico “reportedly” turn us down to then days later steal Clemson’s AD?

Does this stuff matter if we end up getting a great OC?

When FSU is struggling to be bowl eligible this December while we are preparing for the conference championship game, someone will bump this thread with your quote to get a laugh.

I think people are annoyed because all we've seen with the coordinators is weeks of tight secrecy, and when there's finally a crack it's nothing but an publicly discussed offer + rejection - the very kind of thing secrecy efforts are designed to avoid.

That means Mario took a month to get to his candidates, spent loads of time trying to get everything right, and was turned down by the first person he asked. That's not a good look. The assumption with the fan base is the time and effort is worth it because it will pay off in the end but if it's just getting you turned down then you're likely wasting your time.

That was Belk but he already got a contract extension at UH before Mario was even hired.
 
Candle and Briles are the only coordinator names that leaked. Apparently, both had discussions with Mario/UM. Only one received an offer (allegedly).

Who is the next candidate to be the subject of legitimate smoke? By "smoke" I mean verified by a reputable third-party?

Any guesses?
