CMR is 26 - 12 at Miami STFU! None of his offense have hit in the top 40 since he's been here. You know what Larry Coker's record was at Miami in his last 3 seasons? 25 - 12.

Don't tell me MR is the guy. He hasn't proven anything as far as coaching goes. You either improve as a coach or you get left behind.

---Look up Butch Davis' record through his first 4 seasons. And don't throw that probation bullcrap in there. Richt was on probation too ON TOP of having Golden recruits. Side note -- Butch NEVER beat FSU or VT.

Not giving Richt a pass but ya'll have a skewed memory.

We just went 7-5 with a top 3 defense in the country and you're defending him with accolades from the past.

He is NOT what he used to be. 18-12 60% win rate against the P5 since he's been here.
Exactly. I could see it if the Canes lost to Clemson, Alabama, etc. We fell to VA, BC, Duke, and GT. And, it was the area Richt was in total control of that failed miserably with talent that is far better than the opposing team.

Who is the answer then? Butch? Haha. Leach? Cant win big games or his division? Kingsbury? Got axed. Cristobal? Got rolled by sorry Arizona. No one else is coming here and staying. Any coach worth a **** will be gone once a blue blood comes ringing. Richt is the guy. Only hope is if he has some self reflection this off season and makes major changes. Scoops up a hot OC and reloads with another one when he jumps ship for a HC job. Accept it. Miami isn't dishing out money like other programs. You're not gonna find many coaches that want to end their career here.

the game has passed mark richt by and thats just the truth. yea he had a very succesful run at UGA but look what they have done since his departure. If he doesnt make adjustments to the offense this season he will be doomed at miami no matter how you attempt to frame his previous successes.

- Mark Richts average W-L record at Georgia = 9.6-3.4
- If we win the Bowl game, his avg. W-L record at Miami = 9-4
- Miami's average record in the 10 years before Richt = 7.1- 5.6

We're right around what should be expected from Richt.

He was always the guy to take us from 7 wins a season to 9-10 wins. He was never the guy get us to 12-13 wins.

You're right: he has a very good winning percentage and did it for a length of time in probably the most competitive conference in division 1.

Here is the big problem with your statements, though: Richt has been very FORTUNATE to coach in two of the top 5 most talent rich areas in the country. At Georgia, they may not have the tradition of an Alabama, but they have always been surrounded with amazing talent and also easy access to other southeastern/Floridian talent. We don't even need to describe the talent/opportunity here when he arrived several years ago. This talent differential has masked his actual coaching ability. It's why his consistent problem of LOSING TO PROGRAMS HE OUTTALENTS is why a rational fan is concerned.

Last year we were all thrilled to win 10 games, etc. But did you not see the total meltdown against Pitt? A team we should have destroyed. The beatdown from Clemson, or a program that finally matched/exceeded our own talent? And when you look at some of the wins last year, when you move past the "every team needs some luck to win some close games" argument we were a couple Langham clutch catches from easily being 8-5. LSU is another program that has as much/exceeds our own talent. They beat the crap out of us this year. Do you really think we should have lost to any of those four teams in our losing streak this year?

At Georgia he raised the level of the program from where it had been for a while, but the UGA fans could always see the potential of what they could be. Now they have Smart, playing for his second straight SEC championship, and coming off a NC runner-up appearance in only his third year. To be fair, Richt also started strong at Georgia, so the jury IMO is out on Smart (especially since he inherited a lot of Richt's players). That said..... why is the Georgia program performing on average now so much better with Smart with a lot of the same players Richt had?

What is the worst about all this is you have announcers in our games calling out his offense and wondering why we don't use a system that fits our athletes (and maybe modern times) better? Every game this is happening from Orlovsky to Roddy Jones now. It's obvious to everyone that the unit he calls was the difference from playing for a playoff spot this year.

And finally with all this, we have reported dissension on the team. But when we say those guys can hit the curb a lot of it has to do with the GUYS HE RECRUITED and the culture he instills on the team. Those are his recruits and it happens based on the culture/system that he created at the end of his third year here.

I will grant him that he did have a pretty young offense with injury issues this year. If he makes some changes to the playcalling/qb coaching this offseason (am willing to give Searles one more year), then I'll be a lot more receptive to him (two more years minimum). If he doesn't, then the blazing hot seat he goes next year.

If we lose the bowl game his average here becomes 8-4. I think we should expect better.

Would cares? Every successful coach we've had was snatched. You want to win championships and then attract top replacements or have someone mediocre because they aren't coveted anywhere else?
