that's why you take out an insurance policy. we aren't "set" next year without Walton. we are relying on gray and a true freshman. give me Walton and homer and bring in lingard as the 3rd back and we're set. we are far from set without Walton coming back.

Fun fact: the ncaa allows players to "borrow" from hypothetical future earnings as long as they are projected to get drafted in the first 3 rounds. Also schools can pay the insurance premiums for players.

Would be really nice to keep Walton, McIntosh, Norton, and KC (has to apply for a Medical Waiver).

If Delaney doesn't play the rest of the year (just a hypothetical) can he apply for medical redshirt?

Didn't he want to come here to improve his draft status? I know initially he looked shaky, but just before his injury he started to look like a CB who could hang with good D1 talent. I honestly hope he improved his draft position even if he doesn't play another snap because I have respect for a player who could have gone to NFL but decided that becoming a Miami Hurricane was a better business decision.

UM fans are obsessed with sending our players to the NFL early. Makes me sick.

If Harley is practicing then he doesn't have the high ankle sprain that was suspected. Those things take a long time to heal.

KC? How is he going to get an extra year? Zero chance.

He played 4 games as a freshmen and then blew his knee out in the 5th game vs Duke. He didn't play a snap vs Louisville then played vs. FAMU, Ark St, Nebraska, and Duke.

He can apply for a medical waiver anytime for any year. Doesn't mean he will want to stay or that the staff would want him to staff.

If he played in more than 20% of the team's games in any season or participated after the halfway point of any season he wouldn't be eligible for a medical RS.

The staff would absolutely love him to stay, but he's not eligible to stay another year.

Put it to rest....KC could not and will not apply for a med waiver.

30% not 20% which could hurt some this year as we only play 11.

Delaney didn't tear or break anything. I'm confident he'll be back after UNC.

You still think he's eligible for a medical RS?

Per the NCAA Manual of 2017, there is no limit to when you can apply for the waiver. Others have applied as Seniors for injuries that happened as freshmen. http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/D117.pdf

Do I think so, yes.

I figured with all the connections around here, someone may know if KC was thinking about it. He has played very well this year and another year could really help his chances in the draft. Yes, another year with KC at LT would be good for Miami, IMO.

Robert Burns couldn't make it to practice, but he's progressing well and sent this photo.

You say he played in the 5th game against Duke that year. I don't know the facts of that season and his injury, so I'm going off your recitation of the facts. If he participated in the 5th game and participated in the 4 games prior to that, then there's no way he can get a RS. 5 games exceeds 30% of the total games we played that year. He didn't need to participate in the entire game. He only needed to play a snap in any of those 5 games to be over the 30% allowed.

Let me clear it up. He played 4 games as a freshmen and then blew his knee out in the 5th game on the schedule vs Duke. He didn't play a snap vs Louisville then played vs. FAMU, Ark St, Nebraska, and Duke.

Played in 30%
Played in only the first half of the schedule
Major injury

The bowl game doesn't count in the total. So 4 games is more than 30% of the 12 game schedule.
