You know what's crazy. There was a time when a good HS coach would have the opportunity to move up to coaching a college program a la James Coley, Frank Ponce, Ice Harris, Telly Lockette, etc.

99.9% of these new South Florida coaches will never be given that chance. These dudes don't know a **** thing about Xs and Os and just ****ride these kids

True but some will as they will be viewed as valued commodities for their "local ties" aka recruiter which all these guys are now.

this...they allso will try to ride these kids up to the college level too...but may not have to f they can get some nil out of em.

ive been saying the so called "good" coaches down here now are nothing more than optomist or park recruiters..if there isnt a huge t alent advantage they arent doing anything..they are called good coaches based off of their half time speeches and talent acquisition

carol city has those 2 and najeh davenports son who is a 9th grader thats good...kid isnt close to a need to be transferring in lol

So I watched the "All or Nothing" episode with Carol City from last week's KOC against West Boca... And I was listening to the coach. He seems like a good motivator and clearly he can gather talent. But is he a good Xs and Os coach? Can he develop players? I've only ever seen him at Chaminade, who is always loaded, and now Carol City, who was not loaded prior to him but he's not taking what was there and growing it, he imported a ton.

I coached with him at Miramar optomist before.

He was the coach from when James Cook and those teams when they were in optomist...then he prior coached the cam harris carol city championship crew.

He has a good feel for the game. Hes agressive in playcalling. But yea when we were at Miramar we were loaded too that was the omar thornton, zayquan patterson, vince shavers crew too. lol

So he always had stacked teams but he does his thing

Dude...
A lot of them come to practice high and wear a book bag on the sidelines. 🤣

Not only do they lack progressive/modern knowledge of the game, but they carry themselves poorly. From the way they speak, dress and communicate...a college can't hire these MF'ers. 🤣
Shoot... most of them wouldn't get a high school job in Texas or Georgia.

Coaching is not treated like a profession down here, therefore there's no incentive or expectations to be professional.
"You get what you pay for."

And some of them think they deserve more pay, or deserve a college job, but won't carry themselves accordingly.

Most guys down here treat coaching like a hobby.

I've coached against him several times. He does a good job on offense.
 


A four-star prospect committed to Nebraska has been ruled ineligible for one year by the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA), effectively ending his high school football career in Florida.

Jailen Hill, a senior at Miami Carol City (FL), was ruled ineligible through Aug. 27, 2027, after an FHSAA investigation found he participated with the football team before he was officially enrolled and lived with a representative of the school’s athletic interests.

Hill, who committed to Nebraska on June 16, transferred from California powerhouse St. John Bosco to Carol City over the summer. According to the FHSAA’s findings, which were obtained by USA TODAY Sports, he began participating with Miami Carol City as early as July 11, more than a month before he officially enrolled at the school on Aug. 13.



The investigation also found that Hill’s eligibility paperwork was signed by Jessina Wooden, whom the FHSAA said was not Hill’s parent or legal guardian and did not have legal authority to sign the forms on his behalf. The FHSAA said Wooden appeared to be the mother of another Miami Carol City football player and that a lease submitted during the investigation was in her name.


The FHSAA concluded that Hill was living with a representative of the school’s athletic interests, a violation of FHSAA policy unless the person has court-appointed legal guardianship.


The association also determined Hill was permitted to participate without valid EL1, EL2 and EL3 forms and before completing the enrollment process. As a result, Hill was ruled ineligible to participate at any FHSAA member school for one year, beginning Aug. 28, 2026.
