Geta,

This would be a question for you, LCE and a few other cats here:

Let's say all these kids were attending their neighborhood public schools (and all the teams had roughly the same levels of coaching, structure, facilities, etc.)

Year in and year out, who would be the Top 5 teams in Broward and Top 5 in Dade?

Norland, Homestead, Jackson and Edison honorable mentions in Dade?

Boyd Anderson and Hallandale HM in Broward?

Those were schools I figured could have something if they had good coaching and kept their talent home

The beauty about South Florida in it's prime was that any given year there'd be like 8-10 teams capable of playoff runs.

Dade:
M[BGCOLOR=initial]NW, C[/BGCOLOR][BGCOLOR=initial]entral, C[/BGCOLOR][BGCOLOR=initial]arol City, S[/BGCOLOR][BGCOLOR=initial]outhridge, Killian[/BGCOLOR]
[BGCOLOR=initial]Honorable mention:[/BGCOLOR]
[BGCOLOR=initial]BTW (demographic change has hurt them), Homestead, South Dade, Norland, Coral Gables (demographic change has hurt them), Jackson (that area is 90% Central American now though)[/BGCOLOR]

[BGCOLOR=initial]Broward:[/BGCOLOR]
[BGCOLOR=initial]Miramar, Dillard, Ely, Deerfield, Plantation[/BGCOLOR]
[BGCOLOR=initial]Honorable mention:[/BGCOLOR]
[BGCOLOR=initial]McArthur, Boyd Anderson, Hallandale, Piper (on the lowest of keys), maybe Monarch, Northeast or Western lowkey [/BGCOLOR]

Is gentrification hitting Overtown and forcing families to leave?

Think y'all sleeping on Western's boundaries.

Right now in the NFL...

Brandon Linder
Jon Feliciano
Kevin Austin
Elijah Moore
James White
Giovanni Bernard

All Davie kids.

Jake Ruddock
Buckshot Calvert
Brandon Doughty
Wade Freebeck
And Colin Hurst was/is Broward's all-time leading passer, Broward offensive player of the year, and All State multiple seasons.
And he's not the only Quarterback they've had recently with player of the Year and All State accolades.

And there's a lot of other D1 level Davie kids that end up at St Thomas or American Heritage instead of Western... But their boundary always produces big tough Linemen and Quarterbacks. (not many skill kids)

Hallandale...wouldnt be as good as Mcarthur talent wise.
Even when they kept their talent at home...when i wa sin high school...we still beat them. They had Davin Joseph, and a bunch of others then. Their area is just to small and filled with snow bunnies and old ppl. They are good when they are able to piece together some Hollywood corridor kids and county line kids from the Norland/Krop side.

Honorable mention would be Boyd Anderson and Piper who NEVER keeps kids.

Dade- Homestead and Norland for sure.

Deerfield wouldnt have enough talent pool to pull from.
Flip them with Mcarthur. (i know im bias).....But Mcarthur demographics include Hollywood, as well as good portions of Pembroke Pines and Miramar.
Pembroke Pines Optomist is probably one of the best youth football parks in south florida and its walking distance from Mcarthur.
Deerfield is the only school in its city...but they were pretty much good by usurpting all the talent in the north...Kids from Pompano/Creek/Boca everyhtin north witht alent was going to deerfield.

Homegrown you have to look at the Youth programs in the schools zone and area because that would be their feeder programs for the most part.

60% of historic "Overtown" is gentrified & 25% got absorbed into greater Little Havana, demographic wise. BTW right now is under 40% black, which I NEVERRRRR thought I'd see [BGCOLOR=initial]that day.[/BGCOLOR][BGCOLOR=initial] I work in the area. [/BGCOLOR]
BTW is in Overtown across the way from Allapattah...they always had a heavy latino pop....but yea its more now.

They still have their feeder program though and Ice is back.
Its Jackson that got screwed in all this (though they were good last year)...Jackson is also the ALlapattah area but split their kids with BTW and get their good kids snatched by BTW.
Aldarius Johnson was a standout at Jackson b4 portaling out.

What type of offense will Chaminade run? You have the two 5 star WRs, the Atlantic high transfer, and this kid. All this along with some ballers in the backfield.
